[New for Early 2021] Well, we finally have another Magnum tub using their white chocolate shell (the other being the white chocolate vanilla flavor, reviewed here). Am I excited? Yeah, I am. I love chocolate, but I also love diversity, so I'm curious to see how this combo shakes out.

Edy's Creamy Chocolatey Cores Ice Cream

[2018-2020] Time for another Edy's core flavor.... yay? I bought all three together in March (for the sake of instagram) and I kind of regret it. I knew I wouldn't love them, but I thought at least they might tempt my daughter in to helping me eat them. Yeah, no. She's apparently hit her breaking point with Edy's texture (even the grand stuff) so I guess I'm on my own with....

Edy's Cake & Cookie Fantasy Frozen Yogurt

[2017-2018] While Edy's (Dreyer's) first release this year was those three limited (and underwhelming) cookie dough flavors, they appear to have now added 4 more permanent froyo flavors. A line up that gets little love suddenly gets four new flavors. Did someone go "let's distract them while we quietly yank the frozen custard line up from existence"? Whatever the reason, we now have Caramel Praline Perfection (almonds), Peanut Butter Overload (peanuts), Salted Caramel Pretzel (potentially cross contaminated), and the only one safe to bring home:

Turkey Hill Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream

[New for 2016, Apr-Jun availability] It's been too long since I've had a new ice cream flavor from Turkey Hill. Technically it feels a bit late to reveal a Red Velvet flavor since it was trendy in 2011 and pretty mainstream by 2014, but it's 2016 now. Can TH serve up something different here?

Hershey's Royal Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream

[By Nick, limited 2014, full time 2015] I feel as if red velvet cake's trendiness has come to an end. ‎I can't think of too many food companies offering new red velvet products this year outside of the ones around Valentine's Day. That didn't stop Hershey's from turning their limited edition Royal Red Velvet Cake flavor from last year into a permanent flavor this year.

That's right, the BK Oreo Shake now has a brother that's filled with so much red dye that you might run for the hills, or at least turn away. Oh, sure it looked innocent enough at first, but then, when it was done, it looked like this.

Well, they own different dairy companies in different regions, for me it's Garelick, but rather then run down every company, just know that they are the folks behind Tru Moo. Unfortunately, since they are a huge dairy company and not just an ice cream company, they seem to have forgotten to create a website where we can find their new flavors...

[By Nick, New for 2014] Since Dubba has probably hit red velvet overload by now, I guess it’s time for me to review one. Knowing Friendly’s Sundae Extreme line consisted of Frozen Dairy Desserts, I was a little hesitant in picking this one up. That said, I’ve never tried Friendly’s FDD before and I’ve yet to have an ice cream that replicated Red Velvet Cake well so maybe it will work better as a FDD. Why yes, I did have to rationalize buying this carton, don’t judge me.

Weight Watchers Red Velvet Ice Cream Sandwiches

[New for 2013] Part of the free shipment from weight watchers included the very intriguing Red Velvet ice cream sandwiches. I mean, come on, production red velvet products are rare and now to find it in a sandwich? It's the kind of product that could catch anyone's eye (well, if they haven't gotten stuck in the non-lowfat section anyway).

So here they are, a box of 8 "snack size" red velvet ice cream sandwiches clocking in at just 100 calories a piece. The description reads "low fat cream cheese frosting flavored ice cream with a red velvet chocolate swirl between two red velvet chocolate wafers". Cream cheese frosting flavored? I'm guessing that it'll either be super strong or non-existent.

Blue Bunny Red Velvet Ice Cream Review

[New for 2011, lost the Duff branding in 2015] Of all the new flavors that Blue Bunny came out with this year, Red Velvet has by far been the most talked about around here. Actually, it's kind of been the year of Red Velvet. Stone Ridge was ahead of the curve by releasing their Red Velvet ice cream last year, but things have gone into high gear as both Blue Bunny and Ben & Jerry's have released Red Velvet flavors. (You may remember I was overpowered by the B&J version).
