Hershey's Cake & Brownie Bites

[New for Early 2025] So I actually bought these several weeks ago, but then the new ice creams started rolling in and this review got pushed down the list.

Colliders - Layered, Twisted, & Chopped!

[New for Jan 2021] We're going to take a quick frozen break to check out the new Colliders refrigerated desserts. While I definitely prefer my dairy products frozen, I am still a sucker for marketing gimmicks like this. I mean, they can't be all that bad right?

Hershey's Royal Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream

[By Nick, limited 2014, full time 2015] I feel as if red velvet cake's trendiness has come to an end. ‎I can't think of too many food companies offering new red velvet products this year outside of the ones around Valentine's Day. That didn't stop Hershey's from turning their limited edition Royal Red Velvet Cake flavor from last year into a permanent flavor this year.

Hershey's Peanut Butter Pretzel Ice Cream

[By Nick] Hershey's has been on point with their limited edition game as of late. Everything is following trends it seems and I'm all for it. Let's look at another limited edition I grabbed from the Niskayuna Co-op.

Hershey's Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream

[2018 Update]: Hershey's has upgraded this flavor to Oatmeal Cookie Craving. It has the same basic ingredients though something has changed as the nutrition facts are a little lower.

[By Nick] I might have cried tears of joy when I spotted this limited edition pint from Hershey's at the Niskayuna Co-op.

Hershey's Salty Caramel Truffle Ice Cream

[By Nick] ‎Every time I go to the Niskayuna Co-op, they manage to have a new limited edition pint from Hershey's Ice Cream. My last visit resulted in the same experience and the pick up of this overdone flavor.

Hershey's Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Cup!

While I was busy grabbing my first pint of Hershey's ice cream, I couldn't help but grab one of their interestingly packed ice cream sandwiches. I mean, I LOVE ice cream sandwiches... and I was hungry... and I really love ice cream sandwiches. Ok, let's see what $2.29 buys me.

Hershey's Midnight Caramel River Ice Cream

The other day I badly needed a kick to get me through the rest of the day, so I headed over to the gas station to grab my beloved Rock Star fruit punch.Well, what do I see out of the corner of my eye? An entire freezer section devoted to Hershey's Ice Cream (it's a pretty big gas station, it also has a Dunkin Donuts). Anyway, Nick's already reviewed two of their flavors with respectable results, so I think it's my turn to dig in.

Hershey's Roadrunner Raspberry Ice Cream

[By Nick] To say I was excited when I saw the selection of Hershey's Ice Cream at the Niskayuna Co-Op would be an understatement. You see, we've been meaning to get them on the site for a while now. However, I've only been able to find them in gas stations and you all know my luck with ice cream from there. ‎Now, Hershey's Ice Cream has absolutely no connection to the Hershey's company you're all familiar with. The only thing they have in common is their name and location. I actually got to meet the regional sales manager for Hershey's on a more recent trip to the Co-op and learned a lot about the flavor creation process and more about Hershey's history.

If you know me, you know I spend countless hours looking at companies' websites looking at what flavors they offer even if I know I can't get that flavor locally. So imagine my surprise when I saw Roadrunner Raspberry in the Co-op's freezer. After doing some research when I got home, it was actually one of the hand-dipped flavors that recently got packaged into pints. Described as "Premium white chocolate ice cream with raspberry swirls and raspberry filled chocolate cups." That sounds a heck of a lot like my beloved White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle from Haagen-Dazs. There was no way I was passing up grabbing this flavor so let's dig right into this one.

Get those camels some ice cream, stat!

Those camels look hot, especially the one on the top left, better get them some Ice Cream! We finally made it to the Southwick's Zoo, which is kinda sad considering it's only a half hour away.

Honestly, we weren't impressed. I mean, they had some animals, but considering it was only 80 degrees at most, I expected the animals to do a little more than sleep. Whatever, it's a zoo, let's go try that new Sky ride. Oh wait, it's $5 a person ...but we ride it anyway. Camel, pony, or elephant ride? yeah, another $5 a person. Nevermind. How about a kiddie ride? wait, $2.50 a ride ...hmmm, I'm noticing a pattern.

Anyway, let's see if we can't add a high point to the afternoon with some ice cream before we go check out the muttville comix. Nice, they serve about 8 Hershey's ice cream flavors along with some other stuff. My daughter goes chocolate, my wife goes cookie dough, and I set my sites on Peanut Butter cup. Oh the anticipation! Oh the excitement! ...Oh My....the freezer burn! Man that's a lot of ice crystals. Apparently no one else has ordered ice cream today.

Thankfully, it wasn't all that bad. My cone had the most freezer burn but I ate it anyway, it would be a shame to waste ice cream on such a nice day. In retrospect, I could have asked for another, but there was a nasty line behind us and so I decided to make due for the sake of the sanity of all the other parents. The ice cream was decent, nothing too fancy or exciting, old ice cream can only do so much. It was basically peanut butter chunks in chocolate ice cream. Funny, since peanut butter cup usually implies peanut butter cups, guess I should have ordered moose tracks instead. I'm sure I'll run into Hershey's ice cream again, I'll just make sure it's fresh next time.
