Dannon OIKOS Greek Frozen Yogurt

If you thought with all these companies producing gelato that the Greek yogurt fad would be over, you'd be sadly mistaken. Not only will we be seeing a Greek version of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia but Dannon has also decided to produce their own pints under the Oikos line. First, don't ask me why there aren't any commercials of John Stamos promoting these (Update: there are now!). Second, yes there already is an Oikos line of frozen Greek yogurt made by their sister brand Stonyfield. The major difference here is that those are organic and fat free, while these are not. Also, the flavors Dannon offers are more enticing. Since I didn't want to go the basic route (like Strawberry), I grabbed their Key Lime and Black Cherry flavors. Both of these flavors don't get much love in the ice cream isle so I'm happy Dannon is showing them some respect.

Dannon OIKOS Key Lime Flavor Greek Frozen Yogurt. Lime products are hit and miss on the blog. It's one of those flavors that has a fine line between being terrible or amazing.

The great thing about today's review is that I had totally forgotten about this product. Part of me thinks I've seen it on a rare occasion (aka years ago), another part of me thinks I've never seen it. Maybe it's more popular in your area, maybe you see it all the time, but for me in my area, this pint of green "live culture frozen dessert" just seemed too unique to pass up.

Dunkin Donuts Raspberry Lime Coolatta

[New for 2013] Sorry, no new Nosh Show today, that's next Monday, but can we talk about Dunkin Donuts anyway since my nosh show cohorts Junk Food Guy, GrubGrade, and the Impulsive Buy have all posted glazed donut breakfast sandwich reviews. See, I love Dunkin Donuts, and not just for their donuts and strawberry coolattas. I love them because it's realistically the only place I can walk to for lunch. No, I don't eat donuts for lunch (at least not on a weekday), instead, I grab one of their sandwiches. So far their ham and cheese on a french roll is my favorite, but that might change.

I walked over to Dunkin for lunch on Thursday (about a mile and a half round trip) and grabbed myself the new Bacon Ranch Chicken Sandwich and the new Raspberry Lime coolatta. I tend not to drink things that are green, but after reading reviews of how terrible the hot chocolate coolatta is (a.k.a. the old frozen hot chocolate), I decided lime was the way to go.

Ciao Bella Key Lime Graham Gelato Squares Review

A couple months ago the fine folks at Ciao Bella sent me three coupons to try their new products. I then spent the next few months trying to find said new products to no avail... very sad, especially for my belly. Well, I decided to give in and pick up something that actually debuted last year.

These are the Key Lime Graham Gelato squares that are "temptingly tart". Tart scares me and is basically why I've avoided trying this, even though I love graham. Time to man up and give it a try.

AICC-4: Door County Lim-e-licious

Disclaimer: This review didn't get lost, the ice cream did (in the back of the freezer). I apologize to Door County Ice Cream Factory and the Ice Cream of the Month club in advance.

The freezer got a little disheveled and unfortunately my little homemade ice cream friend here got stuck way in the back. Sure, I could have reached back there and saved him on multiple occasions, but I just kept saying "I'll try it tomorrow".
Well, in an effort to catch back up with my blogging, I grabbed this little guy, scraped off the freezer burned top and tried to dig in. Ugg, still freezer burned. I dug in further. Still freezer burned. I dug even further, but to no avail.

Had this been a nasty flavor, I wouldn't really care ...but from the few bites I did take, I regret not cracking this open when it first arrived several weeks ago. I expected some bright green limey thing, instead I got something that looks like vanilla with just a faint whiff of lime. It's actually quite mellow. In fact, it reminds me of the lime jell-o mold my mom use to make. I've never been a big fan of lime, but I always had a few slices of that cold treat on my holiday dinner plate. Mmmmm, lim-e-licious takes me right back there.

Schoep's Sherbet Review

The final member of the ice cream club shipment is a swirl sherbet from Wisconsin's Schoep's Ice Cream. This little guy is made up of lime-ish, orange-ish, and raspberry-ish flavored sherbets. Now isn't that a strange way to put it? Well, there's a reason.

Hola Fruta Margarita Sherbet Review

The unthinkable has happened!! I hate to say it, I really do, but I've discovered a flavor of Hola Fruta I don't like. Sure it's still top notch quality, but the flavor is OHHHH so potent. I guess the problem is that I've only had cheap green lime flavor before, I've never had quality stuff.

Don't be fooled by the Margarita name, there's nothing in here for flavor except lime puree. The first bite was the most shocking, but the following bites we're still quite potent. I don't know what flavor they could mix it with (like they did with blueberry and pomegranite), but I can only recommend this to people who love lime.
