My new Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Pie Coolatta was kind of horrendous

Disclaimer: On Sept 3rd, DD announced a pumpkin COFFEE coolatta. However, this week they started advertising a pumpkin PIE coolatta. Is it possible I got the wrong thing? It certainly didnt smell like coffee, plus it's not dark like the coffee version either. Maybe I got everything but the squirt of pumpkin (though I did see something orange in my cup before it was mixed). Whatever happened, take this angry review with a grain of salt.

[New for Fall 2014] Sorry to start this with the shocking headline, but this thing smells and tastes like a wet cigarette. I just don't know how else to describe the shocking spice imbalance in this thing. Ugg, just forced sip number three, this stuff is terrible.

Pumpkin Spice Oreos and the Nosh Show Ep39

Hello Nosh Show listeners! You all listen to our podcast right? It's me, Eric the Junk Food Guy, GrubGrade Ryan, and our fearless leader Marvo of The Impulsive Buy. It's a great big ball of fast food and junk food banter. Fall is officially upon us so we delve deep in to the mysteries of fall flavors (and the onslaught of pumpkin everything).

Despite having been to several grocery stores before recording Episode 39, I did not have a package of Pumpkin Spice Oreos to try along side everyone else during the show, and that's a shame, because they are really good. Like, I can't eat just one or two good. It may not be something you rush to grab, but as soon as you have one, you need MORE MORE MOAR! Yes, they are that good. They are just full of this flavorful creme that goes perfectly with the golden Oreo. I am very impressed.

Oh, and that new Pumpkin Pie Talenti Gelato that Nick reviewed? Yeah, that's awesome too. I can't wait to head back to the store and buy 3 or 4 more pints.

Jeni's Brambleberry Crisp Ice Cream

[By Nick] So here we are again with another pint of Jeni's I paid $6 for (after coupon) at The Fresh Market. To be honest, I was really irritated with my last experience that I was hesitant to pick up another pint. However, I've wanted to try their Brambleberry Crisp flavor for awhile now. Blackberries are one of my favorite fruits and it's not every day that you see a flavor utilizing them as Jeni's has. That and I don't think we've ever covered a flavor with black currants involved either. Here's hoping this pint will be worth the money I paid for it.

7-Eleven MTN DEW KICKSTART Slurpee

You know, I've been good recently. Despite my new immense fondness for Rock Star fruit punch that I triggered by researching energy drinks for the Nosh Show,  I haven't had one in like two weeks... or three weeks, I can't remember, things have been a little blurry busy since then hehehehe. I had very much planned to continue my non-caffeinated journey but then Marvo had to go and post the news about the latest slurpee.

Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Pints
Chocolate Chip and Cookies n' Cream

[By Nick, New for 2014] ‎Seeing as I still have 3 flavors from my free Baskin-Robbin's shipment to cover and one will be used in a future Friday Night Fight, let's combine the other two into one post! The main reason behind this combination is that these two flavors share the same base and they're both pretty simple. I mean chocolate chip and cookies and cream aren't the most creative flavors out there but they are staples among most ice cream companies.

Breyers Blasts Oreo Cookies & Cream Mint FDD

I was going to post this earlier in the month, but then that other Breyers mint cookie flavor showed up and this review got bumped back. Basically this is a quick review of me filling a void in our Breyers Blasts coverage.

Talenti Pumpkin Pie Gelato (#30)

[By Nick, New for 2014, Seasonal] So about a week ago I was joking around with Talenti on twitter saying that they should make a Pumpkin Pie Gelato for next fall. Little did I know that such a flavor was already in development, let alone that I'd find it at my Shop Rite just a few days later. When I saw the pint behind the freezer door, you could say I was more excited than the trendies on the first day of pumpkin spice latte  season (or PSL as they call it). Well, you know, minus the yoga pants and ugg boots... maybe, but that's not here nor there. Talenti has graced us with a new pumpkin option for the fall season and I'm happy to be the first to report to the masses about it.

Perry's Maple Cheesecake Ice Cream

[New for Fall 2014] I got an email from Perry's asking if I wanted to try their new fall flavor and ofcourse I said yes. No, it's not pumpkin, Perry's already makes a nice pumpkin ice cream. They say this new flavor is a mix of crisp fall nights, NY style cheesecake, and maple syrup. Sounds... different, pleasantly different, than every other pumpkin spiced product out there. Let's dig in

Sam's Choice Coffee & Donuts Ice Cream

[By Nick, New for 2014] When we first got news about Wal-Mart launching their Sam's Choice line of ice cream, I was beyond excited to try their Coffee and Donuts ice cream. Among the shuffle with all the other new products out there and my general avoidance of Wal-Mart, I guess I just forgot about it. However, I recently was acquainted with NOLA Cafe Au Lait & Beignets, which is now my new favorite coffee ice cream, and I knew I had to go and give Sam's Choice a try.

Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Caramel Pizzelle Bars

[2014-2016 as gelato bars >> Caramel Pizzelle ice cream bars in 2017]
Oh wow did I just have an awesome treat! Haagen-Dazs just announced three new gelato bars two weeks ago, (tiramisu, strawberry, and the one below) and I was a afraid that this might be a gimmick to battle Talenti (& Magnum), but all my fears are gone now. This was love at first bite.

Oreo Klondike Bar

The next treat has been on my radar for a very long time for the simple fact that I'm not sure I've ever tried it. So I waited until a good sale hit (2 for $6) and grabbed a pack.

DQ Blizzard Battle 2014

Hello Nosh Show listeners! Things are a little backed up here so I'm going to combine two announcements in this post. First, have you seen DQBlizzardBattle.com yet? Over labor day weekend, I let you know that there was a tasty new Apple blizzard in town (review here) and that the tasty pumpkin pie blizzard was back early. Little did I know that it was actually going to be this big September event going on. DQ's PR firm contacted me last week and offered to send the awesome gift pack pictured below (plus two $5 gift cards to retry the blizzards). I've put some serious thought in to this and I'm still not sure which side to pick. I don't know if I should #VotePumpkin or #VoteApple. I've always loved the pumpkin blizzard, but the apple pie blizzard really hit the spot.... ok, I'm probably leaning towards pumpkin. I need to get to DQ and try them one more time to be sure. Thanks again to DQ for the stuff, my son has been having a blast with all of it. Remember, you only have until the end of September to try the new apple pie blizzard. Now get to the website and vote!

Ok, I went to DQ and got a mini of each. Apple is good, but Pumpkin is great. #VotePumpkin!

Nosh Show Episode 38 is also available for all your iTunes or MP3 listening pleasure. We've got several follow up items, waffles, pretzels, and cereal for nosh or not, and then our main topic takes us behind the scenes of our blogs once again. It's been awhile since we did a segment like that and it's always fun talking fans, trolls, and just living the blogger life. We even delve in to how many servings a container should be. Now this is all in general, but a super premium pint needs to be at least two servings, preferably 3 servings. If it's really good (or really fattening), you might want to savor it down to four servings. Trust me, I get wanting to just down the whole thing, especially if I'm bored or frustrated or want to freeze out a headache, but it's all about balance. Hey, if all else fails, just remind yourself how good the second half of the pint will taste tomorrow when you finish it. [Note: If you have a quart of mainstream ice cream (one with less fat and calories then a super premium ice cream), then it's ok to have bigger servings.]

Alright, enough rambling, it's resting time. Have a good week everyone!

Tofutti Better Pecan Frozen Dessert

[By Nick] Ahh, Tofutti. I still remember the first and only time I've ever had you. It was during my middle school years when one of my friends was going through their "being a vegan is cool" phase (fyi: it didn't last long). She offered me an "ice cream" sandwich and my naive mind thought it would be like normal ice cream. I was so very wrong. Long story short, we barely talk anymore and that sandwich went into the garbage right after my tastebuds recovered. Okay, I'm being a little over-dramatic but it definitely didn't go too well.

Yuengling's Black & Tan Ice Cream

[New for 2014] Alright, time to finally bring Yuengling's ice cream to the blog. For those who don't know, Yuengling (the brewer) has returned to the ice cream game after a 29 year hiatus. Why today? Well, because it was on sale today! There I am staring at two shelves worth of "Pennsylvania's finest" ice cream quarts, but only Chocolate Marshmallow and Black & Tan are frost free. Hmmm, chocolate marshmallow is tempting, but when you bring a new company to a blog, I think it's best to start with a bang.

Cumberland Farms Tumbling Turtles Ice Cream

[By Nick] Hey look, another review that got lost in my backlog! Now if you can recall, I got this pint when I got their Cappuccino Craving flavor. Yeah, that was awhile ago but there's a good reason it kept getting pushed back. Let's start from the beginning though and how great this flavor sounds on paper. I mean it's not all that often you'll find a chocolate malt base and who doesn't love caramel filled turtles? As we have learned though, not everything can be as great as it seems.

Breyers Peppermint Cookie Frozen Dairy Dessert

[New for 2014, Returning for 2015] A few days ago, Marvo asked if Nick and I had spied the latest limited edition from Breyers. Well, it's a good thing he did ask, because otherwise I totally would have walked by it when I went shopping at Walmart the next day. Just like the summer berry cobbler that came out in February, this one came out a wee bit earlier then expected.

Popsicle RED Classics Ice Pops

As a new 2014 special edition treat, the plan was to try this before my daughter made her way through the box.... but things didn't quite work out that way. Before I could say "the frozen drink on a stick", she had burned through all the "good" pops in the box.

Arby's Creme Brulee Shake

[New for 2014] I had no intention of grabbing this new shake, but my wife asked me to bring her a snack and the call of the pretty treat with the fancy schmancy name was just too much too resist... plus you can't get curly fries without getting a drink!

Perry's Bittersweet Sinphony Ice Cream

[By Nick] With the huge selection of Perry's flavors carried at the Niskayuna Co-op‎, it's strange that I've yet to pick up a container to review. I mean I was so excited when I saw all of the flavors but I guess it still slipped my mind.

Sonic Waffle Cone Sundae & More Reviewed

[New for 2014] Alright, time for our annual pilgrimage to Sonic to use up some free gift cards. I'm not quite sure how it always winds up being just once a year, maybe it's the fact that it's over an hour away, but at least it happens. See, on Monday, I was very tempted to rant about our uneventful summer.... but then I realized I still had one final day to do something special for my kids. Six Flags decided to not be open on the last day of summer (aka #FAIL), but the beach is still open.... oh yeah, it's gonna be a beach day and we're gonna hit Sonic on the way home. Time to make some memories.

Graeters Coconut Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

[By Nick] When Graeter's originally sent me free samples of their new products, somehow a couple of older pints slip into the shipment instead of all of the new flavors. One of which was Buckeye Blitz (aka Chocolate Peanut Butter Chips [aka my favorite ice cream]) and the other was this pint of Coconut Chocolate Chip. While I had no problem with seeing the former, the latter I was a bit hesitant about with my whole feelings towards coconut. I have to say I've been liking it more and more as of late so if anyone can make a great coconut flavor, I'm sure Graeter's can pull it off.
