Nosh or Not Speed Round

[New for 2026] I'm trying to clean up my phone a bit, so let me share four products that we've seen at the grocery stores these last couple of weeks. Let's start with last night's run in to Shaw's.

Nosh or Not? Smearcase FroCo

[New for 2024] By any chance do you remember when Nick tried a few pints of gelato from the Fresh Market grocery store? Well, we had stopped at the Qdoba in Mansfield when I noticed some random stores in the back part of the plaza. I decided to drive through when I noticed a Fresh Market grocery store! Apparently Fresh Market came to the area in 2024, which was the same year that this debuted:

Nosh or Not? Nut-Rolled Chipwich

[Announced Feb 2026] At the beginning of April, I noticed the first nut covered Chipwich but didnt see the second one until just the other day! May I finally introduce...

Vanilla Chocolate Almond Chipwich
vanilla ice cream between double chocolate chip cookies, rolled in glazed almond pieces

Brown Butter Pecan Chipwich
sweet cream ice cream between brown butter cookies, rulled in glazed pecan pieces

I think I'd want to try the pecan one first, though I do prefer the almond's sale price.

What do you think? Would you nosh one or both or neither?

Nosh or Not? Fried Chicken Ice Cream

We were zipping through Shaw's this weekend when I spied this on the endcap freezer.

Nutella and Kinder Bueno in the Freezer Aisle

[New for Early 2026] Hannaford has been crushing the 2026 ice cream season by carrying lots of the new stuff. Among the many things I saw all the way back in mid February were these faux pints of....

Nutella Ice Cream and Kinder Bueno FDD

Describing Nutella ice cream as "Ice Cream with Nutella" is both very amusing and also kind of frustrating. Tell me what the ice cream tastes like! Ok, the press release says "the unmistakable taste of Nutella with swirls of Nutella", so I'm thinking they both taste like Nutella.

Kinder Bueno is hazelnut flavored frozen dairy dessert with nutty filling and cookie crunch. That does sound found despite being frozen dairy dessert.

Nutella is 330 cals per 2/3 cup serving and Kinder Bueno is 340 cals, so very close despite one being frozen dairy dessert and one being ice cream.

These flavors don't just come in faux pints either....

I was at Price Chopper on Wednesday when I saw the kinder bueno cones. The box says they are hazelnut flavored frozen dairy dessert with nutty core and topping in a sugar cone. 220 calories per 3.04 fluid oz cone.

There was also a spot on the shelves for the new Nutella cones as well. Similar to the pint, the description is "ice cream with Nutella in a sugar cone". They clock in at 250 calories per 3.04 fluid oz cone.

Now I probably won't be trying any of these any time soon, but a buddy of mine did try the kinder bueno "pint" and said "it's heavy on the hazelnuts".

Will you try these or have you tried them? As always, feel free to leave a comment!

Note: These are made by Wells (the Blue Bunny people) because Wells, Kinder, and Nutella are all owned by Ferrero these days.

News: Muddy Bites Cookie Cone Snacks

[New for 2026] I was checking a few Muddy Bites facts when I accidentally stumbled across the Target listings for a new product variation from Muddy Bites. Get ready to munch on....

Hazelnut Cocoa Shortbread is a buttery cookie filled with chocolate hazelnut spread. There are also toasted hazelnuts in the mix.

Salted Caramel Shortbread is a buttery cookie filled with salted caramel.

One fun fact is that these say "Product of Germany" on the back.

Are you interested at $5.49 for a 3.5oz bag? I'm not sure if they are anywhere but Target yet.

Turkey Hill's Bad Idea

[New for 2026] I don't know why, but Turkey Hill is getting in to the soft dessert game... well, I guess I do know why, money, it's always about money.

I just don't get it. Did they see the Blue Bunny Soft lineup and think "yeah, we can do that too!". That lineup just doesn't strike me as a big seller, so why copy it?

I guess I'm still just mad that they shrunk the all natural lineup and that it's hard to find.

What do you think of this food science inspired news?

New Blue Bell Pro Frozen Dairy Dessert

[New for 2026] Thanks to the commenter who let me know that Blue Bell announced a new product line today. I definitely did not have this on my 2026 frozen bingo card.

Blue Bell PRO high protein frozen dairy dessert

The good news: full size pints that are packed with protein!

The debatable news: frozen dairy dessert and it's unclear which sugar substitute they used.

Flavors are chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coffee and salted caramel.

I tried do a little quick digging, but I can only find marketing images of the front of the pints. Thought I might get lucky and find a nutrition panel somewhere.

I'm not sure how good these will be, but soon some of us will find out. Not me, I'm in the northeast, but others will, including people in Cincinnati at some point in Spring 2026 thanks to a new distribution facility that Blue Bell is building.

Two New Talenti Pints for 2026

You all know that Talenti reusing numbers drives me crazy right? Well, if you didn't, know you do. Case on pint in point is the "new" #85 and #86 in their line up.

First New Stuff of 2026

Well, it's another new year. I'm currently trying to purge the freezer to get ready for it, but in the meantime, let's take a gander at what's hitting social media. First up is the "new" ice cream bars from Ben & Jerry's, I say it with quotes because I'm guessing a lot of us remember the old bars. Also, these feel like pint slices on a stick, but whatever, I'm sure they are taste.

More Dr. Bombay Flavors?

[New for Mid 2025] I can't believe I'm saying this, but two more Dr. Bombay flavors will be showing up at your local Walmart! I don't know who is buying these, but someone is!

credit: Dr. Bombay / Walmart

Sticky Caramel Apple is green apple sherbet and caramel ice cream with crunchy peanuts and salted caramel swirls.

Long Beach Fruit Cart is mango sherbet and coconut ice cream with pineapple pieces and spiced mango swirls.

Are you interested by either of these at four bucks a pint? Maybe you've seen them? I'll admit that they are certainly creative sounding, but with their track record, it's still not enough to bring me back in the Dr. Bombay fold. What do you think?

Lemon Blossom Ice Cream Sandwiches

[New for 2025] These bright yellow boxes hanging out on the end cap freezer definitely caught my attention.

Signature Select Lemon Blossom Ice Cream Sandwiches

I saw these at Shaw's (owned by Albertsons) while picking up some other new stuff from the freezer aisle. 4 sandwiches for $4.99 on sale ($6.99 regularly). Seems like it's part of a big lemon flavored lineup from Albertsons. You can read their press release here. Wait a minute....

Lemon White Chocolate Waffle Cone Bites? Ooooooo, that sounds fun! I think I need to find those.

I do love competition in the waffle cone bite space since it leads to lots of fun sounding flavors. "Just the fun part" and "Tiny Bites" both have a bunch of flavors on top of what Muddy Bites already has.

So, if you try either of these products, let us know!

Kellogg's Ice Cream

[New for Early 2025] I stumbled on @eat_yums instagram post about coming across *5* cereal inspired ice creams at Safeway! Oh, I see The Impulsive Buy has reported them at Shaw's as well! I love ice cream for breakfast and I love mixing ice cream and cereal, so these are right up my alley. I hope they are good!

New Ben & Jerry's for 2025

I was a little confused why we were seeing lots of good stuff from everyone except Ben & Jerry's, but an eagle eyed reader noticed some more new stuff on their website. Yay! I'm happier now!

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream
strawberry ice cream with a strawberry jam swirl & fudge flakes

I love strawberry ice cream, so this makes me very happy, but wait, there's more!

New Ben & Jerry's Sundaes! The funny thing is that @sven_and_jerrys posted about these hitting Germany way back January 2022! Both countries now have the Cookie Vermont-ster and Dulce De-lish flavors. CV looks like Milk & Cookies turned into a sundae, so that's fun. We also get Choco-lotta Cheesecake and Turtle Sundae. Wait, has B&J's done a chocolate cheesecake flavor before? I don't think so! Man, that's cool, and I also love that Turtle Sundae has a pretzel swirl.

Dear B&J's, I forgive you for the boring Scoop-apalooza lineup. This totally makes up for it!

More New Stuff for 2025

To be honest, I don't spend a ton of time on instagram anymore. I'm not saying that I ever spent that much time on it, but there's just too much suggested content and sponsored ads for me these days. Somedays it feels like there are 2-3 filler posts for every one post from an account that I actually follow... sorry, anyway, @snackgator, @candyhunting and @mnmtwinz have been posting lots of new stuff like...

New Haagen-Dazs for 2025

Time to talk Haagen-Dazs news! First off, the short-lived butter cones are out, and new Belgian waffle cones are in! Will these tasty looking cones last more than two years?

New Stuff for 2025

Now I've seen a few new things pop up on instagram, but now I'm running in to new stuff online as well, so let me share what I've stumbled upon so far. First up, I found the new "Bakery Collection" over on the Talenti website. We're going to get three new layered flavors and you can be sure that I'll be testing all three: Italian Tiramisu, Snickerdoodle Cookie, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Batter.

Would you try a GummiCone?

[New for November 2024] On Wednesday, at Conecon in Atlanta, Mojoz unveiled a new kind of cone that also works on not just ice cream and softserve, but also for Italian Ice (or Polish ice, shaved ice, water ice, etc).

Euro News: New Bite Size Treats

Yesterday, Unilever published news (here) about new bite size treats from Magnum as well as a new flavor of bite size treats from Ben & Jerry's. They also mention that the Yasso poppables are doing quite well. The bad news is that these new treats arent available in the US, but hopefully they will be someday.

First we have the tasty and fun looking Magnum Bons Bons. They come twelve in a tub. The flavors are White Chocolate & Cookies, Gold Caramel Billionaire, and Salted Caramel & Almond. I would totally devour all three of these flavors.

One thing confuses me though. The news says this is Magnum's first bite sized product, but they already had "ice cream bites" in their European lineup. Granted those were more of a ball shaped treat served in a tray and these are more of a puck shape, but still... Wait. Magnum Bites debuted in Australia and New Zealand in 2022 and they look very similar to these new bon bons. They had a vanilla ice cream filling and came with either a chocolate coating or an almond chocolate coating. Yeah, these new versions are definitely more tempting.

I had totally forgotten about Ben & Jerry's Peaces even though superfan @sven_and_jerrys posted about the cookie dough flavor way back in early 2022. Well, those original 'peaces' will be joined by the new salted caramel brownie flavor soon. You get ten in a bag.. so maybe two servings of five?

I'm kind of shocked that peaces haven't made their way to the states yet, but fingers crossed for 2025.

Lastly, here's a picture of the Yasso Poppables incase you've never seen or noticed them. I took this photo in April 2023 when the poppables made the transition from box to bag (and from 50 calories to 35 calories per poppable).

So, anyone interested in these treats?

News: More Dr. Bombay Flavors

[New for 2024] Sorry, I took this photo at Walmart back in July and forgot to post it. Tentatively, I don't plan on picking any of these up, but if one of you has some positives comments about the new flavors, maybe I'll give one of them a try.

2024 Dr. Bombay Ice Cream Flavors

Strawberry Cream Dream: Strawberry sherbet and vanilla ice cream, with golden sandwich cookies and strawberry jam swirls.

Baked Blueberry Muffin: Cinnamon sugar ice cream with crunchy streusel pieces and blueberry jam swirls

Peanut Butter Jelly Time: Grape Jelly Sherbet and peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter chips and a grape jelly swirl.

Technically, one of my instagram followers thought that these new flavors were better than most of the initial flavors, so there is that. They certainly sound like they should be fun, but I am unfortunately pretty distrustful after last year's samplings (review here).
