Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt "Pints"

[New > Exclusive for Target in Oct 2025, now available elsewhere in 2026]
Wait, in some weird fluke pattern, I appears that I do one Yasso review every six years, and it's always August. That's too funny!

Anyway, it still always surprises at how much the freezer aisle froyo market just disappeared. On the one hand, it was never amazing, but on the other hand, there were solid offering out there.

Keeping the Greek froyo dream alive (in the US) is Yasso. They've managed to stay viable by diversifying. Currently, they have 13 regular bars, 7 chocolate coated bars, 4 poppables, 3 sandwiches, and now the new (faux) pints and cups. First, let me show you the four flavors I didn't buy...

Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt
Mint Chocolate Chip  -  Cookies & Cream
Coffee Chocolate Chip  -  Fudge Brownie

And the one I bought: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough which is just "creamy" greek yogurt with cookie dough pieces and chocolate flakes.

Sorry, not the best shot, but you can see that it's got a busy start.

Looks respectable, right?

So, for full transparency, I may have forgotten to write down any notes for the first two times I scooped into the pint. Going from my rusty memory, I believe there were three big take aways. One, there is no yogurt tang, so that's good. Next, it is a fairly stiff (aka not creamy) product. Lastly, I've never loved that frozen skim milk vibe that I get from freezer aisle froyo.

It's certainly not bad in any particular way, it's just not my thing. Maybe someday....

On Second Scoop: It's been a while since I snuck my first few helpings of this one. It seems like the upstairs freezer has left it a bit more stiff and dried out.  ....I decided to let it temper. Starting with melted edges.... oh, that exacerbates that milky froyo funk..... what if I just smoosh it all together? ....Ha! Now it looks like it came from my dash mug. I think my problem with froyo is that I taste the milk and the water components separately. [to translate, whole and 2% milk taste like milk, while skim milk tastes more like water to me]. That said, I definitely prefer this froyo smoosh to the earlier brittle texture. At this smooshed up point, I can just tell myself that this is a healthy version of a chemical free frosty.... and I may have just thrown some Ovaltine in with the last of the smoosh ....honestly, that's a half decent combo right there. It helps tame the water milk vibe and also pushes me even more into chocolate frosty territory ...and now it's all gone!

Parting thoughts: Supposedly Greek Froyo is making an international comeback, but we'll see how things play out. In the comments, let me know if you still do the froyo thing or if you miss froyo in general (or Greek froyo in particular).

Verdict?  still not really my thing
