Euro News: New Bite Size Treats

Yesterday, Unilever published news (here) about new bite size treats from Magnum as well as a new flavor of bite size treats from Ben & Jerry's. They also mention that the Yasso poppables are doing quite well. The bad news is that these new treats arent available in the US, but hopefully they will be someday.

First we have the tasty and fun looking Magnum Bons Bons. They come twelve in a tub. The flavors are White Chocolate & Cookies, Gold Caramel Billionaire, and Salted Caramel & Almond. I would totally devour all three of these flavors.

One thing confuses me though. The news says this is Magnum's first bite sized product, but they already had "ice cream bites" in their European lineup. Granted those were more of a ball shaped treat served in a tray and these are more of a puck shape, but still... Wait. Magnum Bites debuted in Australia and New Zealand in 2022 and they look very similar to these new bon bons. They had a vanilla ice cream filling and came with either a chocolate coating or an almond chocolate coating. Yeah, these new versions are definitely more tempting.

I had totally forgotten about Ben & Jerry's Peaces even though superfan @sven_and_jerrys posted about the cookie dough flavor way back in early 2022. Well, those original 'peaces' will be joined by the new salted caramel brownie flavor soon. You get ten in a bag.. so maybe two servings of five? 

I'm kind of shocked that peaces haven't made their way to the states yet, but fingers crossed for 2025.

Lastly, here's a picture of the Yasso Poppables incase you've never seen or noticed them. I took this photo in April 2023 when the poppables made the transition from box to bag (and from 50 calories to 35 calories per poppable).

[New for 2022] So there are three new duet bars from Magnum. Almond Duet, Chocolate Duet, and the one we are going to look at right now.... and I'm already tired of saying Duet! Ha, sorry. So we have the original single dipped bars, then we had double dipped bars, but rather than go triple dipped, we got one and a half dipped bars. Geez, there I go being snarky again.

Ruby Cacao?

I was going to post about how busy I am and how boring the freezer aisle is right now, but then I remembered that @candyhunting had pointed out a new gimmick coming from Haagen-Dazs soon: Ruby Cacao beans. Will the limited edition bars (and pints) get your attention?

According to the box "the ruby hue is released during the bean's unique fermentation process, enhancing the indulgence of cacao with a flush of berry brightness". Nestle (who controls HD in the US) also created the kitkat ruby.

Will this be the only thing we get? I hope not, we need more!! If we run with the fact that Canada is sometimes a precursor to what hits the states, then maybe someday we'll get "Extraaz".

Does extraaz imply extra mix-ins? I hope so, but honestly, I can't tell, so I asked Junk Food Jeff and he said yes! (you remember him, he's done four Canadian reviews for us). There are also six pints to go with this (two of the pints are listed as "new"). If you ask me, the time is perfect for companies to be offering high mix-in flavors. I know I would try them all.

Update note: @candyhunting also posted a new Rose & Cream flavor for the spirits line up, so that means we have spirits for at least another year.

Update #2: It's 1/6/2020 and Magnum has beat Haagen-Dazs to the news cycle. Their tweet today announces the release of new Magnum Ruby bars that we be available in both regular and mini sizes. I'm debating if I should be annoyed or amused by this development.

New Products from Mars & Magnum

Sorry, I forgot to post yesterday! My other two reviews aren't finished, so let's talk new stuff. That's right, talk of the 2019 ice cream season has begun. Now, I don't know where candy hunting gets most of her news, but I do know where the Mars stuff comes from (aka candy bar ice creams and Dove branded frozen treats). So what did they announce the other day?

The focus of the press release are the Snickers Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Bar (peanut butter-chocolate ice cream that's dipped in dark chocolate) and the Twix Triple Chocolate Ice Cream Bars (chocolate ice cream, caramel, and crunchy chocolate cookies in a chocolatey coating). I pretty much like all of their other ice cream bars so I can't imagine not liking these as well.

Now if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the press release, there is actually one more product line that is coming up but not pictured. It's Dove Gelato Bars! That's right, they've decided to jump in the the gelato game with the Dove name. There are only two flavors to start: salted caramel and triple chocolate. I will admit that this surprises me a bit in a time when everyone else has been jumping on the sugar replacement bandwagon. Be thankful for small miracles that we weren't give a zero sugar snickers bar or something.

Wait, wait wait, I just did a bit of digging and figured out where the new Magnum tub news came from. It looks like a few grocery stores set the SKUs up a little too early. The three flavors are Dark Chocolate Mint (peppermint ice cream with dark chocolate), Milk Chocolate Almond (vanilla ice cream with almonds and milk chocolate) and Milk Chocolate Mocha (coffee ice cream with milk chocolate). Now remember that these tubs can be found all over the planet so places like Australia already has the almond flavor. That said, it appears the mint and mocha flavors might be something new this year. I wonder if I will find these in December again? 

-UPDATE-  I found these already!!! I ran in to Wegman's this morning (10/8) and found the almond and mocha flavors (with a spot left for the mint). No one so many grocery stores have these posted already... do these even count as a 2019 product then?
