[Walmart Limited Edition for 2026] I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I miss real Drumsticks. They were a goto for me in the 200X years and definitely a more frequent guest during the first five years of this blog. The last non-traditional Drumstick review was in 2024 (the slurpee version) and then the last time I had an official, coated Drumstick was way back in 2015 (the butterfinger version). 

That's kind of crazy if you think about it. How did they go from being one of my favorite treats to nothingness? I blame the food science that is frozen dairy dessert. I do get tempted every year to bring a new box home, and then, finally, one day at Walmart not so long ago, I saw this eye catching box and decided to bring home...

Our schedule of eating ice cream in the house has definitely changed as we get older. I cant even remember the last time that I had ice cream three times in one day..... but seriously, ice cream changed and so did we. I'm still all over the place in terms of what I grab from the freezer, but my wife has gone back to mainstream ice cream as her daily driver. For the most part, this meant Turkey Hill ice cream, but something changed very recently. Cholesterol and saturated fat are now gone from their frozen dairy dessert! Skim milk is now the main ingredient, and then that is mildly supported by milk and coconut oil whereas they were using regular milk with a dash of nonfat milk mixed in. Polydextrose was replaced by maltodextrin, which is probably why the fiber count dropped to zero as well. What does all that mean? It wasnt until the end of the first week that I realized that I had lost my sense of smell (for the most part) and that in turn dulled my sense of taste. DQ Dipped Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard

You can't see the cheesecake, but it's in there. My wife has been getting a strawberry cheesecake blizzard the last few DQ trips anyway, so this was an easy choice for her and she said it was good.

As for me, I ordered the returning Confetti Cake blizzard, but the person on the radio heard "Cotton Candy" because my voice gave out for a second. I corrected it and they put confetti cake blizzard on my order/receipt. 

Welp, we get our order, drive down the road for a moment and pull in to a parking lot to enjoy our treats, but I don't have a confetti cake blizzard. I have a cotton candy blizzard. I'm sure DQ would have fixed it if I went back, but part of me hates the return process and the other part of me hates wasting, so I just ate it. It's not like the cotton candy blizzard isn't tasty (especially with a side of french fries, which I had).

We will probably head back next week for confetti cake, and then the week after for mixing bowl mashup (though it feels like we've had this blizzard before). Actually, next week is Easter.... but the week after is April vacation, so who knows when the next DQ trip will be.

Well, I was at Walmart this morning (2/27) when I found a dented pint sitting amongst all the other non-new flavors. Thankfully I spied one more pint hiding far behind it, and that one wasn't dented. Let's finally dive in to a flavor that should be right up my alley.
