[New for 2016] I know I said I wouldn't be reviewing any more Friendly's for awhile, but I'm going to revise /clarify my statement and say I meant big containers of Friendly's. I think their sundae cups and treats should still be fair game, especially since all of their sundae cups are rocking new packaging this year. In total, they've added six full time cups and one limited edition cup to the lineup, making 16 varieties in all now. [New for 2016] So I have a suspicion about these new candy bar inspired Edy's / Dreyer's flavors that are hitting store shelves. While technically there are "different" varieties, both Buncha Crunch and Mint Crunch seem to be using the similar chocolate covered crispies which would be fine until you check out the description on this next flavor.

They sent over samples of three new flavors at the end of January: the excellent One Buffalo, Bourbon Caramel Pecan, and this one. Now hazelnut is slowly making some inroads to be more mainstream in the freezer aisle, but how will this version stack up against all the others we've seen?

[New for 2016] Since I've made the conscious decision to not personally review any of the three new breyers gelatos that are coming out this year (though Nick is welcome too), that doesn't mean I won't keep an eye out for a few of their other offerings. The funny thing is, some of them are actually ice creams and not more frozen dairy dessert junk.

Ciao Bella Chocolate Mascarpone Gelato

We haven't really covered Ciao Bella much since their re-branding in 2014. Nick got some samples when it happened but it's been quiet on our side since then. Part of that is because I just don't see it that much of it anymore. I see it at whole foods where they charge too much (for pretty much everything) and a few faux pints here and there, but nothing dominating like we see out of the other premium players. That said, there has always been one pint that catches my eye but I've been ignoring it until now. $3.99** has bought me....

Magnum Double Chocolate Vanilla Ice Cream Bar

[New for 2016] As far as I know so far, there are two new double shelled magnum bars out this year, as well as changing Magnum Gold?! to "Sea Salt Caramel". I'm also wondering if their infinity lineup is going to fade away. Do you approve of these changes? Have you tried the double raspberry yet? I love the double shell concept but it will basically make up half of their U.S. lineup (keeping in mind that even the original vanilla bean bar is now discontinued). I find this an interesting strategy to take. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

[By Nick, New for Spring 2016] Hello Second Scoopers! The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. Nick here and I'm alive and well. It's just been a crazy time in my life. I got engaged, I have a baby boy on the way, I'm making my own ice cream and making some amazing donuts at Cider Belly. Oh and yeah, I'm in my last year of college. So. Much. Stuff.

[Only for 2017] Ok, time to reach the halfway point of our travels through the new Haagen-Daz Destination Series. I think it could be argued that this flavor is the most foreign of the line up... see what I did there? No, not funny? Oh it was a little funny, I mean, my only sesame experience as a child was either sesame seeds on my hamburger bun or sesame street, and I don't think that second one applies here.
