Wendy's Pumpkin Spice Frosty

[New for Fall 2023] A new limited edition frosty debuted today, and while I've kind of given up hope on frostys in general, I couldn't help but try it.

Van Leeuwan Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll
and Strawberry Ice Creams

[New for Fall 2022] So Van Leeuwan is back with *seven* more flavors (with 4 being exclusive to Walmart). This is round 3 of there 2022 blitz and I gotta ask: "does anyone still care at this point?" The flavors are the ones you see below plus Tapatio Mexican Hot Chocolate, Sweet Potato Marshmallow Casserole, Wildberry Layer Cake, Hazelnut Fudge Cookie, and Honeycomb (press release here). If you are like me, you may have thought they did honeycomb already, but this one is neither round 1's Hot Honey or round 2's Honey Cornbread.

Mad Minis Peppermint & Pumpkin Spice

[New for 2021] I haven't really mentioned mad minis in awhile because, well, not a lot has changed in the last few years. Well, that changes this year as they put out 3 new seasonal flavors (at least, I think they are new - plus I haven't seen Eggnog in person yet). As an added bonus, I found these at Walmart!

Dairy Queen Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake

[New for late summer 2020] The Mrs and I finally made it back to DQ for the first time in a very long time (two years!). There wasn't anything in particular that I wanted from the menu, but then I noticed a sign for this shake and I knew we should get one to try.

Happy Halloween!

Happy (Snowy!) Halloween everybody! Things are pretty quiet around here which is why I gave in and picked this up (so few options in the freezer aisle right now!)

Turkey Hill Pumpkin Pie Frozen Dairy Dessert

I think this is the first time that I've had this flavor since it's been converted to a frozen dairy dessert. Yes, I still hate the spongy nature of frozen dairy dessert (that will never change). I feel like the swirl might be a little less crazy than the original version (reviewed here), but it's still doing a good job of keeping this flavor amusing.

I won't be buying a half dozen of these, but it's probably best that I spiced things up... get it, spiced! ('cause the cinnamon) ..Ha.. I had actually planned on doing an early morning ice cream restock run to Wegman's this morning, but even ice cream isn't worth braving icy roads for.

Happy Halloween everyone, be safe out there!

Talenti Pumpkin Pie Gelato Layers

[New for Fall 2020] For the first time in forever, I feel like I've found something before anyone else. I had not seen anything about this product until it was staring me in the face (next to the returning B&J's Pumpkin Cheesecake and the new Eggo Pumpkin Pie Pancakes). Back in the old days, I might get the scoop on something like Ben & Jerry's Greek Froyo hitting my local shelves before anywhere else (link), but with so many people trying to be the next big instagram hit, it's so hard to be truly surprised anymore. Well, color me surprised and very happy!

Ital Gelato - Pumpkin Pie

It's time to finally get Ital Gelato on the blog. I've seen it at Wegman's for awhile now, and I started thinking I had actually tried it at some point, but I can't find any record of it.

Uhlman's Pumpkin Oreo Ice Cream

Hey, sorry for the quietness, it's just busy in life but slow in the ice cream aisle. I still have the magnum tubs and some pb world to clear out of the work fridge before I buy anything else... well, unless I decide to make one final trip to Uhlman's before they close for the season. See, my fellow Massachusetts people don't believe much in outdoor ice cream in the cooler months so most places close in Sept/Oct and don't reopen until March/April. I know, it's sad. It was basically empty there when I plopped down five bucks and picked up....

Uhlman's Pumpkin Oreo Ice Cream
(includes pumpkin puree, pumpkin pies spices, and chopped Oreos)

Was it good? Ofcourse. I definitely agree with calling it Oreo and not cookies & cream because there's no little wafer bits everywhere. I also expected it to be a bit more orange though I get that mixing pumpkin with milk and cream will make it less orange. It's just that I wasn't sure if they could have added more pumpkin flavor, or if the Oreos were just balancing out the flavor profile. It was a fun flavor, but I expected PUMPKIN oreo, not pumpkin Oreo. You know what I'm saying?

For the record, Uhlman's has actual cows behind their place. This one on the right looked like they were waiting for me to pet them. If you want to know more about them, click here.

7-Eleven Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream

[New for fall 2018] At this point, I'm guessing that you've seen at least a few fall pumpkin products popping up during your shopping trips. As part of this trend, the latest flavor from 7-11 popped up on Instagram about two weeks ago and guess what, it's pumpkin flavored!

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Pie

I'm pretty sure that a lot of you have heard me profess my love for ice cream cake. It's a magical thing from the random varieties  to your standard version filled with a layer of chocolate crunchies. I don't cover these types of treats a lot (because I rarely see a "new" one around), but it seems these things are always called cakes, not pies. The only "pie" I've reviewed was the cookie dough one my wife brought home from Cold Stone way back in 2011.

Well this was a present from my in-laws yesterday. It's a Pumpkin Ice Cream Pie from New City Microcreamery in Hudson, MA. It's Pumpkin Pie ice cream, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and something they call a "cone-cookie crust". I didn't have the description when I first dug in, so I couldn't quite place the flavor of the crust at first, but once I was told it had to do with waffle cones then it all made sense. It's unique though I wish that they mixed more little bits with all the big bits to make a crust that was a bit more traditional.

Did I mention that NCMC uses liquid nitrogen in their ice cream making process? I should stop by and see it for myself because I dont know if you are allowed to eat it freshly frozen or if you have to wait until after it spends two hours in the freezer. I bring this up because I had no idea how long to let the pie (and then the slices) temper. The softer the slice got, the more the pumpkin spices came alive. With less tempering, the ice cream was quite dense and also not as flavorful.

They also had an eggnog version (no thanks), a pecan version (not safe to bring home), and an apple version that had some kind of crumb top. Which one would you have brought home? Or for a more general question, have you had ice cream made with liquid nitrogen?

P.S. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas yesterday.

Edy's Slow Churned Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream

[New for Fall 2017] As I was walking the freezer aisle the other day I realized that I need to kind of step back a bit and do a little bit better job of rounding out the frozen reviews here on the blog. To be less vague, what I mean is I picked up a container of Breyers and a container of...

Trader Joe's Pumpkin Ginger Mini Ice Cream Cones

[New for Sept 2017] Did you know that Trader Joe's changed their "Hold the Cone" production company this summer? Instead of a 5.9oz 8-pack box coming from Germany, they are now a 7.9oz 8-pack coming from California. I didn't know until 30 seconds ago. I never got around to trying the old version, but when I saw these pop up on TIB today, I knew I should go shopping.

Perry's Pumpkin Spice Latte Ice Cream

[New for Fall 2016] You know what I love about Perry's? Their willingness to try something new. They have a range of classic flavors but they get today's media cycle. They realize that you need a mix of beloved regulars and new stuff. Not all of the new flavors will work, but who cares, it's how you learn and grow [don't worry, their excellent pumpkin ice cream is back again as well].

Blue Bunny Spiced Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream

When my local Walmart finally got the new Holi-doodle flavor, they FINALLY got tonight's flavor as well (unfortunately it looks like I won't get to try Cinnamon Apple Pie this year). Now I know the pumpkin season is past both literally (farm wise) and figuratively (grocery store wise), but I rarely say no to a description that includes the word graham. Ok, time to put on my #VotePumpkin shirt and dig in to....

Arby's Pumpkin Cheesecake Shake

One, the OEM battery on my wife's car didn't make it past the four year mark. Two, whoever designed the battery holder on her car should have their engineering degree revoked. Three, episode 66 of the Nosh Show is here! Four, as my reward for fixing the car, I grabbed the new...

Burger King Pumpkin Spice Oreo Shake

[New for Fall 2015] Or should I say Oreo pumpkin spice shake? Iunno. All I do know is that many of you were angry about the Red Velvet Oreo Shake so let's see if the King can redeem himself a bit. Oh, and no, I didnt get the HA1loween Whopper because I didn't feel like getting 2/3 of my recommended daily sodium intake (Marvo or Ryan didn't seem to like it much anyway).

Hood Pumpkin Ice Cream Sandwiches

I'll be honest, I really don't want to propagate the pumpkin spice madness anymore. I know it makes many of you happy, but I personally have no urge to see it everyday from September 1st through November. I saw pumpkin spice sugar at lunchtime and was just beside myself going "Really?". I think many of us will burn out on pumpkin long before we hit Pumpkin's true peak, Thanksgiving. Oh how I love my beloved pumpkin pie! (and pumpkin blizzards!)

So Delicious Candy Corn & Pumpkin Spice Bars

[By Nick] ‎I already know what you're thinking, "Nick, why are you reviewing So Delicious limited edition bars for FALL?" Well there was a miscommunication at So Delicious that resulted in me not getting these bars until earlier this month. "Well, don't they have a Winter line you could be reviewing instead?" Yes, yes they do. However, like the fall bars, those are also exclusive to Whole Foods. It seems that Whole Foods had bought them out of their own inventory so you guys are left with a review of a couple bars you might still be able to find or will have to more than likely find next year. Hope you enjoy!

Yuengling's Spiced Pumpkin Roll Ice Cream
Yuengling's Peppermint Crunch Ice Cream

I'll admit it, I really didn't want to do another pumpkin review. It's fun to do one review of it a year, but it feel's like I've had it a hundred times, and I really didn't want to do it again.... but Yuengling really wanted us to try it, I hate saying no to free ice cream... and I must admit it, I'm glad I agreed.

Pierre's Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream
Have a Great Thanksgivings Everyone!

Alright, one last pumpkin review to wrap up the fall season (side note: this is a lie, there'll be one more next week). Now I've spent the last several weeks thinking about writing some nice heartfelt post about how we should appreciate every moment of holiday family time. Sure the holidays can seem like a chore but some day you'll be looking back going "remember when grandma cooked that" or "remember when the kids did that" or whatever. Ahhh, I'm too tired to be sentimental, just try to enjoy Thanksgiving and we'll leave it at that. Let's get to the ice cream!
