Turkey Hill Simply Natural Strawberries & Cream

--- At the end, we'll talk about the "Simply Natural" rebranding ---

[New for 2020 or 2021] So I went to Market Basket for the first time in a very long time a few months ago. I had only been there once or twice during the pandemic, and that was to grab an item or two, not stare at the ice cream aisle. Well, I finally made it back and spied something I had never seen before. You know I love this lineup, so let's dig in to.....

Turkey Hill Mint Chocolate Cookie Swirl Ice Cream

[New for 2020, discontinued] It's been a pretty quite year for turkey hill, but they do have two new all natural flavors (and that limited bourbon vanilla flavor that caught some people's eye).

Turkey Hill All Natural Cookie Dough Ice Cream

[New for 2020] That bad news is that I have two tubs of all natural Turkey Hill ice cream that need to go back to price chopper because they let them melt and go bad. The good news is that I found a replacement for their spot in the freezer.

Turkey Hill Chocolate Raspberry Bliss Trio'politan All Natural Ice Cream

[New for 2018, discontinued] If you follow me on twitter than you may have noticed that I try to encourage Turkey Hill to add more all natural flavors. I feel a little like a broken record but their all natural line up is basically my nighttime snack for about 85-90% of my evenings. I love old fashion ice cream and nothing reminds me of good 80s mainstream ice cream like Turkey Hill All Natural does. I wish more companies would move this way rather than messing with sugar replacement.

Turkey Hill Blueberry Ice Cream

[New for 2017, discontinued] Disclaimer: blueberry ice cream is not my thing. Ok, I say that about a lot of things, but it's just not something I gravitate towards unless there is an x-factor like pie crust bits. That said, I wanted to try at least one more of the new flavors in Turkey Hill's all natural line up. (Note: this line up is what I eat when I'm not eating/reviewing something new).

Turkey Hill Raspberry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

[New for 2017] To my great delight, I was excited when I heard that Turkey Hill was adding four new flavors to their All Natural line up. I do love this entire product line and am happy to see it grow. Now I won't be trying the new Mango or Mocha Chip flavors because those just aren't for me, but I am pretty excited about the new...

Turkey Hill Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

[New for 2015] You've heard me confess my love for Turkey Hill all natural ice cream on multiple occasions right? It's my go-to 9pm snack nowadays. I just want something clean and simple to end my day. My only real problem with it is that there aren't a ton of flavors for me to choose from based on both availability and me not bringing home any of the 5 nut based flavors.

Turkey Hill Black Cherry Fudge Ice Cream

[New for 2016, discontinued] I was sure to grab both of the new all natural Turkey Hill fruity flavors on my last trip to Wegmans. I really enjoyed the blackberry swirl and now it's time for...

Turkey Hill Blackberry Swirl Ice Cream

[New for 2016, discontinued] Dear grocery stores, why are you not carrying the new Turkey Hill all natural flavors yet? Come on now, it's June already! There are now 16 flavors in all and I need more of them in my freezer. Ok, technically I saw the vanilla peanut butter on my last trip to Market Basket, but come now.... no? Well fine, time to make an ice cream run to Wegman's then and grab...

Turkey Hill Sea Salt Caramel Gelato

[2015-2016] A few of you have reminded me that we never covered all of the new Turkey Hill gelatos. I was going to throw out some excuse like the reviews weren't trending well, but I checked and to my surprisie there is definitely interest there. So, shameless stats aside, let's try....

Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean & Chocolate Ice Cream

I don't know what it is right now, but I can't get enough of Turkey Hill's all natural ice cream. I know some of you prefer creamier alternatives, but for me, the coldness and the clarity is just really clicking and I get frustrated when the container runs out. I've gone through... iunno, at least a half dozen containers in the last two months. That may not sound like a ton, but if you factor in all the other things that get reviewed for the blog, then you might go "wait, how does he fit that into his schedule?"

Turkey Hill Vanilla Fudge All Natural Ice Cream

[New for 2015, discontinued] It's been a bit since we've had any Turkey Hill in the freezer, and while I hope that someday their all natural line includes a cookies & cream or cookie dough option, let's try...

Turkey Hill Chocolate Chocolate Chip Gelato

[2015-2016] Now, to be fair, I don't expect to have a ton to say about these two flavors, so we're going to cheat and try them both at the same time.

Saturday Night Quart Fight
Turkey Hill Gelato vs Edy's Frozen Custard

[Both 2015-2016] Alrighty folks, it's time for a Friday Saturday night fight. And we're going to do it a little different this time. Not that there are any rules, but this particular fight is going to be based on size, quarts in particular. That's right, with main stream companies dumping premium quart sized products on us, it seemed like a good time to (hopefully) help us know the difference between....

Turkey Hill All Natural Ice Cream
Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chocolate Chip

[New for early 2015] Let's not beat around the bush here, this all natural ice cream is what ice cream should be. You know what I hate most about frozen dairy desserts? Sure it's cheap and often low cal & low fat, but it's gummy and full of food science. The thing that drives me truly nuts though? It's warm. It doesn't hold the cold like the ice creams I remember as a kid. From the very first bite of this one I thought "wow that's cold". Think I'm crazy ? Well, I am, but try it some time and you'll see what I mean. Now, on to the reviews!

Turkey Hill Banana with Peanut Butter Ice Cream

[By Nick, New/Limited for 2014] ‎After half a year of waiting for it to be produced, a searched that spanned several months, a couple of area code and numerous counties, I have finally got my hands on the collaboration between two of my favorite companies: Turkey Hill and Peanut Butter & Co. Oh how I have dreamed of this day. I mean the internet has been a buzz with this flavor and I've been going into grocery store after grocery store only to find Mango occupying the limited edition all-natural flavor spot. I was seriously have Ben & Jerry's Pina Colada flashback (which I still see on occasion) At long last though, the glorious combination of bananas and peanut butter is mine! I can't wait anymore, let's get into this!

Turkey Hill All Natural Raspberry Ice Cream

Note: there is a chocolate chip version debuting in 2017.

[New/Limited for 2013] Five years everyone... it's been almost five years since I first asked Turkey Hill to make me an all natural black raspberry ice cream. Well, my wish has finally come true... more or less anyway. Sure it's just "raspberry", and it's just a limited edition flavor that's only around for the summer, but I'll take it. In fact, I've been waiting for this day for so long that I'm almost a little afraid to open the container.

Here it is, the all natural Turkey Hill Raspberry ice cream that is scheduled as the June, July, & August limited edition flavor on their limited edition calendar.

Turkey Hill All Natural Salted Caramel Ice Cream

[New for 2013] So Turkey Hill has the rebranding of their All Natural line going strong (formally "Philadelphia Style") and one of the newest full time members of the group is Salted Caramel. Now this isn't to be confused with Turkey Hill's Salty Caramel which is one of their limited edition flavors (but is not all natural).

So here is Turkey Hill Salted Caramel all natural ice cream. Just cream, milk, sugar, salted caramel and vanilla proclaims the container. (ok, technically the salted caramel has several ingredients itself, but whatever).

Pancake Ice Cream Sandwiches
with Turkey Hill All Natural Vanilla Ice Cream

I never know how he finds these things, but a few days before National Pancake day, Nick sent me a link to an Icy Pancake Review. It seemed like an intriguing idea which I decided to save up for today, for you see, today is smack dab in the middle of National Pancake Week (yes, I'm sorry, but such a thing does exist).

Now I don't have any strawberry ice cream, but I did pick up this lovely container of the freshly rebranded Turkey Hill All Natural Vanilla Ice Cream. I've always been a big fan of their all natural line, so it's good to see it get some attention and some new branding. Always dig a mix of classic and modern looks. Can you guess my favorite part of the packaging? It's the five ingredient list under the name of the ice cream (even listed in the proper order like they would be in the ingredients list). Granted, Haagen-Dazs did the same thing, but it's one of those little touches that helps sell an ice cream like this.

Turkey Hill All Natural Neapolitan Ice Cream Review

Discontinued 2013: For whatever reason, no strawberry flavors have made it through the 2013 re-branding of Turkey Hill's all natural product line (though there will be a raspberry flavor coming).

You know, when I was a real little kid, I remember being able to only pick ice cream from 3 choices: chocolate, vanilla, and Neapolitan. Back in those days, if you wanted cookies or chips or anything else in your ice cream, you had to add it yourself. Now Neapolitan doesn't visit my freezer to often anymore, but when it does, you can be sure it will be the Turkey Hill version.
Originally released as Philadelphia Style Neapolitan, it is now known as All Natural Neapolitan with Philadelphia Style on a smaller second line. It's hard to beat all natural (that's why I like Breyer's so much), but in my humble opinion I believe Turkey Hill's version is better than Breyer's. So rich, so creamy, and all the flavors are spot on. This really is the best Neapolitan around.

So now that you have a bowl of this tasty Neapolitan, how do you eat it? One flavor at a time? take scoops from 2 or 3 flavors at a time? or, do what I do. Dig into it for a bit, making sure to eat all the vanilla, leaving some chocolate and a bit of strawberry (it's been awhile since I've tried it, but let's say a 3:1 ratio). Now, mix it together and make yourself a nice chocolate cream with a strawberry tang. Mmmmm, good stuff.
