Top Ten Most Popular Reviews of 2014

Hello ice cream nation!! I was going to try and shove in one more review this year, but getting a new scoopmobile has really kept me busy these last few days. That's right, after driving my car (almost) to the moon (when it's closest anyway), I finally traded it in. It's pretty weird driving something else after 12 years, but when a rusty car starts needing a bunch of repairs, well, you move on if you can.

So let's do a recap like a lot of other sites are doing right now. Let's start with the ten most popular reviews of 2014. Before starting though, I'd like to put in an honorable mention for #11 because it has gotten more comments than any other review... and they're all angry. That's right, Nick's showdown between Ben & Jerry's Coffee Toffee Bar Crunch & the old Coffee Heath Bar Crunch has gotten people so very riled up. Not a single person has come to the defense of the new non-GMO version. We haven't seen this much angst since B&J Creme Bruleee was cancelled. (Ironically B&J says this was their #7 most popular flavor this year... but maybe that was from sales of people buying up all the old pints). Anyway, on to the countdown!

[New for 2014] It's no secret that both me and Nick are huge fans of Cookies & Cream. It's just so classic and perfect and we both love trying new versions. The problem is that despite a few exceptions, there's no creativity in this space. How hard is it to add cookies to pretty much any base flavor and not get a winner out of it? Now this next flavor isn't a straight C&C flavor, but how can I say to to a berry base with a cookie swirl? I can't, plain and simple.

[By Nick] ‎I already know what you're thinking, "Nick, why are you reviewing So Delicious limited edition bars for FALL?" Well there was a miscommunication at So Delicious that resulted in me not getting these bars until earlier this month. "Well, don't they have a Winter line you could be reviewing instead?" Yes, yes they do. However, like the fall bars, those are also exclusive to Whole Foods. It seems that Whole Foods had bought them out of their own inventory so you guys are left with a review of a couple bars you might still be able to find or will have to more than likely find next year. Kemps Denali Peppermint Bark Moose Tracks FroYo

[By Nick, New for 2014] This might be one of the products I've been most looking forward to trying this year. Ever since Moose Tracks announced they would be offering this recipe back in the Summer to companies to produce, I've been on the lookout for potential brands to make it. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to find it as a frozen yogurt let alone Kemp's being the only one in my area to produce it. I mean I've seen their normal frozen yogurts around me for years and Dubba has reviewed some of them. I didn't know they released limited editions and wasn't expecting any place near me to carry them. That was until I stumbled into a random Shop Rite and saw this flavor next to their other limited edition, Cinnamon (that I passed up on). Knowing I wasn't going to be near a freezer though, I knew I had to come back and claim my prize.

Look, I had no intention of having ice cream for lunch yesterday, I just havent been in the right frame of mind for it lately. The plan was to go to whole foods, grab a few things for my son, and then grab one of those pre-assembled lunches they have with the rotisserie chicken, veggies, and mashed potatoes... but they were out! Ugggg.... but wait, seasonal stuff in the freezer aisle... and sales... and look, Tea-rrific is on sale!

What is Tea-rrific you ask? Well, it's tea infused ice cream out of Connecticut actually. I spied 3 of their flavors back in May and got some positive feedback about it on facebook. The problem was justifying $5.99 for a pint of something that I was afraid I would hate. I actually wound up talking with Mario (who I didn't realize was their president and founder) but I just couldn't mange to get to one of their free summer tastings.

Nick's Trip to The Gelato Fiasco

You see, I have been talking with Josh (one of the founders) about visiting them for awhile now and I finally had a chance to take the trip.
