Turkey Hill Egg Nog Ice Cream

So I bought this for two reasons: one, it's never been on the blog and two: I totally lost that Turkey Hill limited edition contest I was having with Nick. Well, technically there is a third reason: I'm hoping my wife will eat it this for me because I totally don't like eggnog.

Turkey Hill Egg Nog Ice Cream
Rich egg nog ice cream with rum flavoring and spicy nutmeg

I scrape the lid and yeah, this is totally not my style, it's too much like store brand eggnog.

That's not to say this is a bad product, but I really don't like eggnog... like really don't like eggnog. Yes, there is a custard flavor to it, but it's amplified. It almost reminds me of those swiss miss rice pudding snacks, but stronger than that. It's just not something I would desire. There has to be something I can pair it with to make it more to my liking....

On Second Scoop: Ok, the plan was to "amaze" you guys with two creations. First, I was going to mix this one with Oreos, and then I got the even crazier idea to mix it with Biscoff cookies (the stuff they use to make cookie butter). Yeah, they were going to be some fancy looking sundaes... but I kind of forgot to make them last weekend and now my wife has finished this container off because there wasn't anything else in the freezer. Oh well, it would have be fun, but I don't think I'll bother buying another container. I did have a few more bites before it was gone and it tastes too much like liquid eggnog for my liking.

  2. This sounds totally unfair if you truly dislike eggnog so much. The fact your wife polished it off so quickly must say something. Surely it deserves a third chance...on a sundae. How about a french toast sundae? Put a scoop on french toast and drizzle with caramel sauce.

  3. I really just wanted a sample of it just so I could let everyone know it's out there. (I hate to post about something I havent sunk my spoon in to)

She ate it and said it was ok, but didnt love it. She'd prefer I keep cookie dough stocked up instead.

  5. This is a legit review from someone who just purchased and had this "eggnog" flavor in his mouth.

    It tastes like BUBBLEGUM.

It doesn't taste anything like egg nogg.

I like the reviewers idea of mixing it with something. Going to try that myself.

But as for the "eggnog" flavor, nope. Turkey Hill created an interesting "Bubble Gum" flavor and called it eggnog.

But this ain't eggnogg. Save your money.

  6. Great review, you used exactly half a sentence on how this thing is supposed to taste, and the rest of it on your dislike of egg nog and other assorted ramblings that have nothing to do with ice cream.

It's great ice cream, too, by the way, one of the best Turkey Hill flavors out there.

  7. Fair enough, though technically there are three sentences to describe the product, but yes, I get that this might seem incoherent. I am actually talking about the product the whole time though it may not seem like it. The point is that the ice cream tastes like eggnog. It's not mild or mellow or off, it tastes like egg nog. If you like this flavor then it's a pretty safe assumption that you like eggnog. That's what I was driving at (somewhat erratically anyway). I'll try to add another sentence to the review to make that more clear.

  8. I totally agree with what Ryker said it is absolutely delicious. I love this stuff. I got it on sale at Shoprite yesterday for $1.99 and it is just about done. I can't stop eating it. First of all if you don't like eggnog then don't waste your time because this ice cream taste exactly like eggnog to me. It has a nice Rum flavor to it and the nutmeg gives it just the right amount of spice. And it has a incredibly smooth consistency. It just melts right in your mouth. I wish I would have brought another container. It was supposed to be a desert after our Christmas dinner but like a little kid I couldn't wait to try it because I have never heard of eggnog ice cream. Turkey Hill nailed it. I absolutely love, love, love it. Thank you Turkey Hill for your eggnog ice cream.
