[New for 2025] When I went to see if Friendly's was going to deliver something new this year, I really wasn't expecting a limited edition Jonas Brothers inspired flavor to be sitting at the top of the page. Apparently they've been fans of Friendly's since they were kids. You know I don't really do coffee ice cream, but let's take some scoops of....

Friendly's Jonas Brothers 20th Anniversary Ice Cream
coffee cookie crumble, chocolate marshmallow, and vanilla

Sometimes the proportions don't look even in a triple flavor.

Honestly, that looks promising!
The coffee tastes like a fine standard mainstream coffee ice cream made fun with some fairly large chunks of Oreo like cookies, cream filling and all! I only have a few small bites, but it seems fine.
The chocolate marshmallow looks fun right? I dig those thin but plentiful marshmallow swirls. I try it and it's good. It's not trying to bowl me over with marshmallow food science.
And then we have a big secton of vanilla ice cream... that's right, Vanilla. Now apparently there are three new JoBro sundaes as well, and Nick's Sundae is vanilla froyo, so I guess this is a nod to that.... OR.... it's a cost cutting measure. What? It's possible.
I didn't take a ton of ice cream for this first scooping, but honestly, it's fine, I have no complaints. It's a warm day and the chocolate marshmallow and vanilla quickly melted together in to a tasty afternoon soup (sorry, no coffee ice cream in my cup at the moment).
Despite being an unexpected mix of flavors, and considering my low expectations of Friendly's these days, I'm pleasantly surprised with how this one turned out.
On Second Scoop: You know what? I like this ice cream. They did a surprisingly good job with it. I had some more bites of the coffee side and I continue to be amused by the big cookie chunks. Also, the chocolate marshmallow doesn't taste crazy fake, instead it's a mild and pleasant flavor. I didn't eat the vanilla by itself, but what I did do is mix all three together and that makes for a fun combo flavor too. The sweet marshmallow really does cut in to the (bitter-ish?) coffee flavor so that you are left with just a pleasant afternoon (or morning) snack. Nice job, Friendly's.
Verdict? surprisingly pleasant!
Buy Again? no, but only because coffee isn't my thing
