Edy's Salted Caramel Pretzel Path Ice Cream

[New for early 2021] Released as part of of their Rocky Road Collection, today's review marks the first Edy's/Nestle review in almost 3 years! I don't know about you, but I just don't see Edy's that much anymore, and when I do, it's rarely a member of the six part rocky road collection.

Edy's Salted Caramel Pretzel Path Ice Cream
caramel ice cream with fudge swirls,
chocolatey covered pretzel pieces and chocolatey covered toffee

This style of tub filling kind of ruins the visuals.

But that? That is a pretty busy container right there.

I take a bite and remember why I stopped buying Edy's. There's a weird (tingle?) coming from the caramel ice cream. I think it's just the weird, foamy, processed nature of the "ice cream" that I haven't had in a very long time.

That said, these pretzels bits are pretty fun and the toffee bits aren't terrible, though they are a little too flavorful. You know how sometimes cheap toffee add-ins have a weird flavor pop? yeah, that's here. Thankfully, I seem to be hitting way more pretzel bits than toffee bits.

The chocolate swirl tastes cheap, but it does help mask the caramel ice cream, so that's a positive right? Just don't get too much swirl because then you might regret it.

Confused yet? Can you tell if I like it? Well, you can tell that I'm at least tolerating it.

Back in the freezer for now!

On Second Scoop: This is fairly non-impressive ice cream, but....  popping the container down in front of myself in the middle of the work day and just digging for treasure, that's just fun. It's not gelato fiasco sunken treasure fun, but it's fun enough. There are certainly moments where you taste the cheapness, but that doesn't mean I still cant get some amusement from this container. Maybe I might even try one of their other rocky road flavors.... maybe.

Note: the other five flavors in the collection are original rocky road, brownie brick road, cookie cobblestone, mocha almond avenue and chocolate peanut butter park.

Verdict?  not terrible
Buy Again?  maybe...

  1. This was just okay for me. The Cookie cobblestone is way better.

  4. Edy's exists for one reason and one reason alone, as a filler crossword entry. Though their pumpkin pie flavor was aight.

  5. I never write reviews for anything, but I find I’m compelled to this time. This is beyond a doubt, the best, most delicious ice cream I have ever had..ever. I love every single thing about it….the crunchy chocolate pretzels are the perfect surprise in-combination with the creamy caramel and chocolate swirls.. Bravo to the Eddy’s inventor that came up with it…she/he deserves a raise.
I really hope this is not a “limited time” special…and remains a permanent Eddy’s offering.!!!! It’s the best!!
