Ben & Jerry's Razz Up Ice Cream

[New for May 2026, renamed in August 2026, Finally found in mid Oct 2026]
So this flavor combo was announced back in May, we almost tried it at our local scoop shop back in July, and now it's got a new name to infuriate people who are overly bothered by two old dudes who like ice cream. May I jestfully present:

Ben & Jerry's Razz Up Ice Cream
formerly "Black Raspberry Fudge Chunk"
black raspberry ice cream with raspberry swirls & crackling fudge chunks

Now the reason we didn't try this in July was because we got scared off by what the server described as chocolate covered pop rocks, but I've regretted that decision ever since I wound up scooping through my serving of non-dairy key lime pie. Its time to rectify that mistake, and do it with a fun colored pint to boot.

It almost looks like it's smiling at me.

I scrape the lid and now I'm a little afraid. Some flavor is trying to pop through. Swirl maybe?

Yeah, that swirl is definitely trying to bust through. It's flavoring kind of reminds me of sorbet actually.

Just had my first chocolate covered crackling thing.

Now I dont even know what I'm tasting...

Where even am I at this point? The flavor from that last bite was.. I dont even know. Literally. I am so confused right now.

I keep scraping across the top trying to get back to the raspberry flavor, but I can't.

Maybe I need to eat more pop rocks?

You cant really tell that they are trying to be pop rocks, but it's fun that they are crunchy, dark chocolate ampersands.

Hey, I finally found some swirl to bring back the raspberry flavor.

Sorry if this wasn't the greatest review, but if you try this flavor, you'll know what I mean. Did the pop rocks somehow throw off my tastebuds off? I honestly don't know what's going on right now.

On Second Scoop: I think the secret is to just keep eating the chocolate ampersands and not think about anything else. I did start with a few chocolate free bites, and this does have a flavoring more akin to natural raspberry flavoring versus a typical sweet black raspberry flavoring. In other words, I'm certainly not throwing this one out, but I don't imagine buying it again either. It'll probably be done by the end of the weekend.

P.S. If you really feel the need to tell the world you hate ben & jerry's in the comments, that is your choice... but maybe this one time, just mosey on along without commenting and see if having a little less anger in your heart makes you sleep a little easier. Just a thought. Peace, Love & Ice Cream my friends.

Verdict?  more weird then fun

  1. This is not likely a flavor I'd try, but only because it could never match up to my beloved Graeters black raspberry with chocolate chunks. That's heaven on earth and I don't even love fruit flavored ice creams as my first choice, so that tells you something. As far as Ben and Jerry, I dont hate them. I dont hate the message. I just hate that they get so political. Everything in life is not political, and when Im eating ice cream I dont need politics involved. I can totally see why some people might be irritated enough to not buy the ice cream. I'll still buy it, regardless of the politics printed on the carton, IF its an exciting flavor. This one is not.
