Dove Gelato Salted Caramel Bars

[for 2019 only] So these were new for last year and it appears they are already disappearing.... kind of like the review that I swore I wrote but is no longer here. Ugggg. This is why I don't post as much as I used too... do I write these reviews in my dreams or something? Anyway....

Dove Strawberry Sorbet with Milk Chocolate Bar

[New for 2016] Time for a product that has so-so availability but also potential cross contamination with peanuts, almonds and cashews. That means I have to wait and grab it as a lunchtime snack instead of bringing it home.

Dove Ice Cream Bar : Caramel Swirl with Cashew

So I'm at the very end of a disappointingly un-new freezer aisle when something catches my eye. Something that doesn't say new but doesn't feel familiar. Something that has elusive cashews in it. Something that... is on sale for $3 a box. Ahh, at that price, who cares how "new" it is.

Vanilla Dove Bar

Way back when dove sponsored a national ice cream month post, they also included 3 of their tasty dove bars for me to try. For months and months I've stared at these things wondering what flavors could be inside, and on this fine Fall day, it's time to find out.

Here are our three samples.... oh I wish they were labeled so I knew which was which. So, I've decided to unwrap all three at the same time and share them with my family. Let's see who's going to get what.

Celebrate National Ice Cream Month with Dove
Mint Chocolate Chunk, Vanilla Chocolate Chunk, and Unconditional Chocolate Ice Cream

So I got an email from Mars, the people that are running Dove ice cream, asking me if I would kindly remind everyone that July is National Ice Cream Month. Well, I do love free ice cream (and the excuse to tell people to eat ice cream), so I said yes!

Dove seem liked a major player in the premium market when the blog first started. During those early days I got use to always seeing that shelf of premium Dove ice creams as I worked my way down the freezer aisle... but times change, brands change, and the Dove we all know and love is now down to just three pint flavors!!

Dove Mint Swirl with Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Bars
Plus EPIC Shipping Fail

[Discontinued] Mars Mars Mars... look, I had no intention of reviewing Dove bars tonight, let alone did I plan on eating one before dinner, but we had a bit of a problem with our free products that made it necessary to check the Dove bars for damage. Check out the bottom of the post for more.

New for 2012, it's mint swirl with dark chocolate dove ice cream bars.
A box has 3 bars at 8.67 fluid ounces total, or 2.89 fl oz a piece.

Dove Irresistibly Raspberry Ice Cream Review

you know, irresistibly is a really really hard word to spell, remind me to never name a flavor with that word (oh wait, it looks like they already registered it, guess it's not an issue then)

To celebrate national ice cream day, we decided to break open something we've never had on the blog before, Dove Ice Cream. It's been over 2 years but for whatever reason, Dove just hasnt shown up yet (well, there is one minor exception).

You know, I can actually (vaguely) remember the first time I had Dove ice cream.  My (step) uncle ran into the store and came out with Dove ice cream bars for himself, me, and my dad. Oh man was it heavenly (and the answer is no, I'm not the only ice cream fan in the family)

Here is our very fancy looking Dove Irresistibly Raspberry Ice Cream. It's Vanilla Ice Cream with Raspberry Sorbet Swirls and Chocolate Chunks. Ever notice how high end ice creams never show what they look like on the container but main stream ice creams do? I just thought of that now... how weird. I wonder why that is.

Treat of this past week: Dove Bar Miniatures

Originally I called these Ice Cream thingies because long ago the "marketing people" at Dove had forgotten to post the product on their website. Oh it drives me nuts when companies want you to try their new products, but don't have the info readily accessible for you. I've seen these several times too, I just can't think of their name.

They are about 2 inches long, come in at least two flavors, and come in 12 packs at the grocery store, or 36 packs at the bulk food clubs. I'm always tempted by them, but the fat content always scares me off at the last minute. Fortunately for me, they were actually giving away samples at BJs when I stopped by on Wednesday.

I tried the one with dark chocolate drizzled on the top

This is Dove we're talking about, so I wasn't surprised at the high quality of my little treat. I say little because you know it's not even remotely big enough to fill you, especially at dinner time. Sure, you can have 5 of them to make up a serving but one will have to do at the moment. They were good enough that I almost picked up that $7.99 box of 36 and put it in my cart ...but the freezer is so full right now. Ok, maybe next time.

2012 Update: There are currently 4 flavors in all, but it's 2 flavors in each box of 14 though I swear they use to come with 3 flavors in a smaller 12 packs...

Ahhh, yes they did come in three packs!
though this the 40 count jumbo box

There was also a cafe collection version at one point which features coffee-flavored ice cream with a milk chocolate coating (so they called one Cappuccino and one Java chip). Pretty sure I remember these, though I never actually tried them. [second generation packaging]

Oh man, there was even a Limited Edition Peppermint Perfection version!
(note: sometimes the boxes came with just one flavor inside)
