We were zipping through Shaw's this weekend when I spied this on the endcap freezer.
Icenova Fried Chicken Ice Cream
vanilla ice cream - chocolate bone - crunchy crumble
As I'm cropping this next photo, I read the words "milk-flavored sauce" and started to laugh.
I'm not trying to pick on this just because it's imported from the other side of the planet, but when there is more malt syrup than cream, does it still count as ice cream? If it's sold in the states, it's subject to the usual ice cream naming standards, but it's just funny to see cream so very far down the list on something that isnt frozen dairy dessert.
Anyway, would you try these at 10 or 11 dollars for a box of 3? [Apparently they also come in single serve versions] It's so silly, that I am tempted to get them, but hopefully someone out there has tried them and can share their story. For everyone else, Nosh or Not?
For that price point I would Not but I'd be tempted just for novelty

DeleteThey were "only" around $6 here and I couldn't resist trying them about a month back. Honestly really enjoyed them - the "ice cream" was actually fine (sure, not technically ice cream, but it tasted good). And the whole drumstick with a chocolate bone made me feel like a kid.

DeleteIf someone GAVE me one, I might venture a lick. Same with that new Crumbl flamin' hot cheeto cookie. I guess there are these strange variations that some people actually do like. But it's gamble to put my money on it. And these days, when everything feels inflated, I am more likely to stick to tried and true

DeleteNope. Im with you. What the Kentucky Fried F*** Is “milk flavored sauce?” Ive never seen those words together, nor was I aware there could be a milk flavored sauce?! But, as objectionable as that is, the whole ingredient list is stuff we should only consume sometimes, in the treats we each individually need for our personal happiness. This has pretty much ALL OF THEM in one serving. Im not even a health freak and have had days where I sustained myself with iced coffee and Swedish Fish and even I am offended by this ingredient list.
DeleteI love trying new things and was tempted by these since I first saw them, BUT at my local Wegmans, the price point is $5 for ONE single treat (the only way they're offered here). I can't even bring myself to pony up the 8-9 bucks for a classy pint of McConnell's, so definite no on this.

DeleteThis would be the sort of thing I think a very high quality shop could pull off well, but out of the grocery store I'd be extremely skeptical, I know that there's one place that sells this kind of thing on Goldbelly but naturally that's even more expensive, and I already tend to trend towards more premium ice creams by weight so that's already a strike for me on this one
DeleteHilariously I think that if this really took off as a trend, the places that would try to copy this would probably prioritize the look for social media clicks further raising my skepticism -
I guess this is a long winded way of me saying I'd need to only try one, and probably for free.
On a brighter note this is a neat idea for a feature, it helps highlight niche/regional flavors and if people have the experience to chime in it would be really valuable! (I've had similar thoughts about the Samanco ice cream too actually)
I should visit more international grocery stores to track down more fun stuff, and don't worry, more nosh or nots to come.
