More Dr. Bombay Flavors?

[New for Mid 2025] I can't believe I'm saying this, but two more Dr. Bombay flavors will be showing up at your local Walmart! I don't know who is buying these, but someone is!

Sticky Caramel Apple is green apple sherbet and caramel ice cream with crunchy peanuts and salted caramel swirls.

Long Beach Fruit Cart is mango sherbet and coconut ice cream with pineapple pieces and spiced mango swirls.

Are you interested by either of these at four bucks a pint? Maybe you've seen them? I'll admit that they are certainly creative sounding, but with their track record, it's still not enough to bring me back in the Dr. Bombay fold. What do you think?

  1. "I don't know who is buying these, but someone is!"

    Valid question...............my $0.02

It probably does well in Walmart due to price and the branding. It pops color and design wise more than any other pints I've seen in Walmart. I imagine the quality is better than most larger containers so if you try it and like it there is a sense you are getting a more premium product than Edy's or Turkey Hill for example.

I think there is a segment of WM shoppers for occasionally look in the pint section but eventually pass due to price and these catch the eye and generate some interest.

    1. Ha, fair enough, though my comment was more joke then serious :)

What I really want to know is what percentage is one time purchases and what percentage is repeat buyers.

I did some digging, and I have definitely found positive news about their growth. Snoop's son said they hit 10 million in revenue back in early December 2024. Dairy Foods also reported year over year sales increase of 448%, though wouldnt they be comparing a half year of sales to a whole year of sales? Also, the Dairy Foods unit sales numbers wouldnt translate to 10 million, so that is confusing.

The geeky side of me always wishes I had access to these kinds of numbers!

  2. The reviews of the early flavors made me never try them. I’ve seen a lot of positive review of the PBJ and blueberry muffin. But I still haven’t pulled the trigger. Not a huge fan of celebrity food products as they’re generally poor quality.

  3. Definitely outside the box thinking but not something I am brave enough to try.
