Wegman's Crème Brule Ice Cream

So the selection at Wegman's is respectable, but it's not amazing. It's not like I had a gazillion name brand newer options to choose from. So, I decided to pick up a few Wegman's options as well. I've been having trouble telling what I'm hungry for recently, so let's try...

Wegman's Crème Brule Ice Cream
caramel & custard ice creams with swirls of caramelized sugar

Clear plastic seal removed but technically still a little ice in there.

Not a ton of caramel showing yet. Notice how dense this one looks.
It's definitely throwing off frozen custard vibes.

I take my first few bites and I realize that this could easily be mistaken for a regular caramel flavor. So, I try to eat it a bit slower and let the Crème Brule vibe come out a little more.

history note: I've only had creme brule a few times. In fact, other than remembering that my wife and I tried an enjoyable version on our honeymoon, I can't think of any other time that I've had it.

I'm enjoying this one. It's got more complexity than a standard caramel offering. It's not going to blow you away by any means, but it's well done and has a nice flavor.

Hmmm, I want to say more. It's good but these Wegman's premium pints usually are. (here are all of my Wegman's reviews). I think I want more (now, not later). Would I like some kind of textural component? Hmmm. I just stopped for a second because this aftertaste is reminding me of something... I think it's reminding me of Keep Caramel and Cookie On (minus the cookie part anyway).

On Second Scoop: Tried to get creative and mix it with my Turkey Hill Pumpkin flavor. Not my best plan. But anyway.... this is nice caramel flavor with a different texture, a texture that might remind you of Werther's candy. This won't be one I personally crave for, but I have no complaints either. Queue someone suggesting a mix-in in 3... 2... 1...  😋

Verdict?  nice

  1. Please put a picture of the ingredients box in every review. I notice you do this but it is inconsistent. Would be great if it was just standard.I am moving towards ice creams with less fillers/ gums/ nut, seed, and vegetable oils.

  2. I think they should had that cracking top similar to Dove. Caramelized white chocolate on top. To give that real creme brulee feel.

  3. @Anon: on occasion I do throw out the pint before taking the picture. I did this with the Graeters pints. Other times I just forget and need to update. I'll try to remember to fix it tomorrow (it's been a very busy two weeks for me).

    @Unknown: That would be awesome!

  7. I wouldn't worry too much about this one. If you look closely, noticed that several ingredients are listed several times (sugar alone is listed 5 times).

  8. Thanks for your review. I spotted it while shopping online and then found my go-to groceries delivery Wegmans has quite a few flavors and I bought 2 of them. Looking forward to trying the creme brulee tonight
