Wendy's Strawberry Poptarts Frosty Fusion

[New for 2025] Doh, I posted this on instagram but not on the blog. When we were headed back from Jersey at the beginning of summer, we stopped at Wendy's, but I didn't want a sandwich. No no, I wanted...

Wendy's Caramel Crunch Frosty Fusion

[New for 2025] This is the frosty fusion that I was most excited for, especially after enjoying the frosty swirl version. My car says it's 106 degrees, so yeah, it's time to try...

News: Wendy's Frosty Frights Toys!

[New for Sept 2024] It's the kids meal toy you never knew you needed, until now!

Are these not amazing? It's been a rough week but I saw these and these new Wendy's kids meal toys put a huge smile on my face. I think maybe they reminds me of the old transforming McDonald's toys that looked like McDonald's menu items.

Their names are Franken Frosty, Frosty Bite, Coolie Ghoulie, Brrr Beast, Cold Spell and Junior.

The press release says 11 in all, but it's six designs with five having color variations. For example, on instagram, I saw a grey version of franken frosty and a green version of coolie ghoulie. Junior doesn't have a color variation, but does have a skeleton costume sticker.

So, do these amuse you as much as they amuse me?

10/19 Update: We know have all six!

Wendy's Pumpkin Spice Frosty

[New for Fall 2023] A new limited edition frosty debuted today, and while I've kind of given up hope on frostys in general, I couldn't help but try it.

Wendy's Frosty Cookie Sundae

[New for Spring 2019] It may not seem like it, but it's been five years since Wendy's has done anything new with their frosty line up. We use to get various experiments here and there but it's been pretty quiet recently. Now they haven't surprised us with something like a strawberry frosty, but if you pull in to drive thru like I did Friday night, you will be greeted by a sign for...

Wendy's Truffle Bacon Cheeseburger
and the Nosh Show Episode 88

Hey Nosh Show listeners! Episode 88 is alive and well and includes a special guest. Ryan wasn't able to make it so the infamous JunkBanter filled in at the very last moment. If you don't follow him on instagram already then let me just say that he gets the first scoop on a ton of junk food.

Nosh or Not? Ben & Jerry's Cotton Candy Ice Cream

Good morning everybody! It's that time to announce the latest episode of the Nosh Show starring myself, Eric from junkfoodguy.com, Marvo from theimpulsivebuy.com, and Ryan from grubgrade.com. Now as a warning, I may or may not ramble inexplicably several times during the episode, but let's hit a few visual highlights here.

My favorite Nosh or Not of the episode has to be the new Ben & Jerry's Cotton Candy Ice Cream. It's Cotton Candy Ice Cream loaded with Candy Sprinkles. Now my daughter has ordered cotton candy ice cream from several scoop shops and it's always the same brightly colored, over sugared, kid focused treat you find at every other place. I'm thinking (hoping) that Ben & Jerry's is going to attack it from a bit more adult perspective while still trying to retain that whimsical silliness that appeals to our inner child. Or maybe I just think it's funny that a cow is holding cotton candy. Will you grab a pint when it comes exclusively to your local Walmart? I did finally, see my review here.

Wendy's Frosty Cone

Hey everybody, with the holiday weekend coming up, we decided to switch up the nosh show schedule a bit. Are you ready for our quartultimate episode? Wait, that's not a word.

Episode 4 of The Nosh Show is now available! Head on over to The Nosh Show website to listen and to see a complete rundown of everything we talked about. We got a little crazy this including a neat behind the scenes segment as well as the "Nots" of the weekend (instead of the Noshes of the week). Good times had by all and hopefully you're enjoying us getting the hang of this podcast thing.

Wendy's Strawberry Shortcake Frosty Parfait Review

[New for 2012] Since I tend to be a bit of a space case this time of year due to weather changes, pollen overload, and everything else, I can get lost in the fog of everything going on. Humidity and congestion just go so well together.... Ofcourse, being foggy doesn't mean I'm not hungry. I know I wanted to pick something up on the way back from Home Depot, but I just wasn't sure what to get. Thankfully Nick reminded me that the new Wendy's Strawberry Frosty Parfait is out. I don't know what it is, but once I heard strawberry and frosty, off I went.

Well I had questioned if the 2011 Wildberry Parfait would be back. The answer appears to be a big NO now that the Strawberry Shortcake parfait is here. It's "creamy vanilla [frosty] with fresh hand-cut strawberry and shortbread cookies to make the perfect summer re-treat".

Wendy's "NEW" Caramel Apple Frosty Parfait

[New for 2011] Back in June, Wendy's debuted 3 new Frosty Parfaits... some people tried it and the summer went on... and then at the end of August, Wendy's "debuted" the new Caramel Apple Frosty Parfait AGAIN. Are you trying to mess with our minds Wendy's? yeah. Did something change? nope. Did not enough people try it? maybe. Well, I needed a snack before I head back to the office, so I spun the car around and decided to try the "NEW" snack (you know, the one my wife approved of way back in June).

Here's what $1.92 bought me : a fairly thin looking treat that still manages to pack 400 calories. We've got "creamy, classic Frosty swirled with all-natural brown sugar granola, fresh red and green apple slices, and real caramel. It’s a tasty, feel-good treat". It certainly looks fancier than the McDonald's version, but will it taste better?

Wendy's Caramel Frosty Shake Review

Fall 2014 Note: Frosty shakes are off the menu!

I'll keep this simple because this shake is exactly as you'd expect. It's a typical thick frostyshake and it tastes like caramel. Now it's not crazy caramel so it's not too far crazy from middle of the road.

It's a decent looking treat and look: it's a caramel  shake so there's not a ton of leeway here unless they use a real terrible caramel. It seems fine, it has a straightforward taste, though when I was done, I think I felt more dry than when I started and so I wound up washing this down with a bottle of water. Not sure how else to describe it.

I just want to say two things. One, I think it's bold for wendy's to offer a straight caramel shake because I don't think anyone else does. Two, that said, this exists because the caramel frosty parfait exists and for no other reason. I don't think there is a huge caramel shake market (though feel free to comment and prove me wrong).

Good night!

Wendy's New Wildberry Shake

Ok youngsters, here's a tip: as you get older, remember to check your calendar at the beginning of the day, not at the end of it. Unfortunately I have yet to stay true to this tip for if I had, I would have been reminded that it was National Ice Cream Soda Day and therefore I would have spiced up my bacon deluxe with a nice Frosty Float. Oh well, I don't believe in these faux holidays anyway. Update: Apparently June 20 is also national vanilla milkshake day. Who makes this stuff up?

Behold the mighty wildberry frosty shake which is a mixture of vanilla frosty plus real strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. Wait, does that mean this bad boy has nothing but real fruit in it? Sorry, afraid not. The legal description of the blend is Wild Berry Puree (blackberries, sugar, corn syrup, strawberries, water, raspberry puree, natural flavor, citric acid, grape juice concentrate, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate [preservative]. Hmmmm, sugar and corn syrup eh? That would explain why this thing is crazy sweet.

This is a potent treat and I am glad I got just a small. I don't know if I really got a wildberry vibe, it was just really a very sweet strawberry flavor. It wasn't fake, or artificial, or tart, but it was oh so sweet and there's just not a whole lot else to say about it.

How about this: if you think a strawberry coolatta is too sweet, you definitely don't want to try this.

Verdict?  oh so sweet

I've got a terrible idea
a.k.a. trying the new Oreo Frosty Parfait

You know, I'm amazed I made it a WHOLE 5 DAYS before trying the new Oreo Frosty Parfait (I first saw them on the tenth). So I've been waiting for the right moment and probably thinking about Frostys way too much when I had a genius idea. WHAT IF.... I asked for my Oreo Parfait with chocolate frosty? I could be a trendsetter! I took my briliiant idea with me to lunch today.

"Welcome to Wendy's, can I take your order?"

"Yes, could I get a Oreo Frosty parfait, but with chocolate frosty?"

"no, vanilla soft serve only"

"ok, let me have a regular one then"

DENIED! But as you can see, I still picked up my rather small looking treat. The cup size says 10 oz and they must have just refilled the frosty machine because this was super soft. I could have drank it with a straw it was so soft.

Wendy's Vanilla Bean Frosty Shake Review

We've had some rough nights sleeping recently and I was in desperate need of an milkshake pick me up at lunchtime. Unfortunately I was on the wrong side of the highway so I was going to have to settle for a fast food milkshake ...remember when fast food milkshakes were the end all, be all it seemed? Yeah, those days are long gone.

Now I've already had Wendy's Chocolate Frosty Shake, so my expectations aren't exactly high as I decide to try a vanilla. To be on the safe side, I got a small.

I have my treat and it's time to dig in! As I go to taste it, I get a whiff of something strange ...must just be the cherry ...I take a taste. Nope, that smell isn't the cherry, it's the shake. It's kinda tingling. A bit unsettling. Yeah, it tastes like a mild cake batter actually. It's not even close to what I was expecting ...or what I wanted for that matter. I guess disappointing is gonna be my overall opinion on this one.

Consistency was fairly easy to drink, and it definitely looks cool with all the vanilla bean flakes everywhere, but if you want to be a funky flavor, you have to name yourself as such.

and no, don't think I'm going to bother trying to the strawberry flavor. (note: I did actually try it eventually)

Wendy's Vanilla Cookie Dough Twisted Frosty Review

Have you tried a twisted frosty yet? They've been out for over a year and a half now. For me, I don't think I've had one since last June.

So I spent a good two hours recycling all the computer junk in my new office. If you've ever wondered what to do with old computer hardware, take it to Staples. Usually it costs $10 a item (computer, monitor, printer), but they are running a special right now so printers are free to recycle. It's not easy fitting 13 pieces of junk in a sedan, but I made it happen.

Anyway, I figured my hard work was worthy of a chilly treat, so I decided to finally try the Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough Twisted Frosty and I wasn't disappointed (except maybe a little by the blending job). I just wasn't in the mood for a chocolate base, guess I felt like being traditional today. As you might expect, you get some cookie dough bits (which stay as bits since the faux blender can't really hurt them), but then you get a very generous supply of very thin chocolate slices. It's these slices that really make the frosty enjoyable, otherwise, it would be terribly boring.

So, Wendy's may not have the variety of a DQ, but the few choices they do have usually hit the spot when you are in the mood (or can't make it to DQ). Give them a chance if you haven't.

Happy St. Patrick's day by the way!

National Chocolate Milkshake Day

Fall 2014 Note: Frosty shakes are off the menu!

Yes, time for another wacky holiday that doesn't really have any proof of existence, yet can be found pretty much everywhere. Kinda funny how that works, but let's be honest, are you going to turn down an excuse to go stop for a Chocolate Milkshake? I think not.

Update: Ok, I know it's not a real milkshake, but I had to grab something from Staples and there is a Wendy's across the street, so I finally tried a Frosty Shake (chocolate ofcourse). It's still thick, but not quite as thick as a frosty. Be warned, this does not taste like a regular frosty. It took many sips to figure it out, but basically this thing tastes like a giant Jell-O pudding snack (the chocolate ones with the cream topping). I opted for the small but wound up finishing it it no time, guess I should have went large. So they are decent, but I can't imagine getting an urge to run out and buy one anytime soon.

Wendy's Twisted Frosty

Ya know what's funny? I can remember the first time I went to a Wendy's. That may not sound impressive, but it was about 25 years ago. I remember being in a part of Pennsylvania that I rarely visited, and it was lunch time. Up until then I had only know McD's (mmm, fresh hotcakes) and BK. I probably got a hamburger, but I also got my very first frosty. What a strange treat! I couldn't drink it! So, out came the spoons and I enjoyed my very first frosty.

Flash forward to present day and Wendy's has gone to great lengths to get to the top of the fast food heap. I'll admit, I'm a sucker for those great little double stack cheeseburgers. The frosty line has greatly diversified in the last year or so. First with vanilla, then with Fix n' Mix, then Twisted Frosties and now the brand new Frosty Shakes(which I need to try).

You can get vanilla or chocolate mixed with Oreos, M&Ms, or the new Cookie Dough (which I haven't tried). The Oreo tastes as you expect. I think the perfect combo is the Chocolate Frosty with the M&Ms. The M&Ms are always plentiful, well chopped, and well distributed. The Frosty was no match for the heat today, but it helped cool me down, and the puddle of M&Ms in Frosty at the end is still a respectable finish. So give one a try, you won't regret it.
