Oh wow did I just have an awesome treat! Haagen-Dazs just announced three new gelato bars two weeks ago, (tiramisu, strawberry, and the one below) and I was a afraid that this might be a gimmick to battle Talenti (& Magnum), but all my fears are gone now. This was love at first bite.

Haagen-Dazs Tiramisu Gelato

[By Nick, 2014-2016] With Dubba being the first to cover some of the new Ben & Jerry's Core flavors, it seems only fitting that I’m the first to cover some of the new gelato flavors from Haagen-Dazs. Out of the four new flavors, Tiramisu was the one I knew I needed to try first. While their Cappuccino gelato left a lot to be desired last year, I have high hopes for this one. See, I loved the flavor of G.S. Gelato Tuscan Tiramisu but felt like it needed ix-ins to take it to a whole new level. On the other hand, Ben & Jerry’s Volun-Tiramisu was weak in the coffee flavor but their lady fingers made up for it. It sounds like Haagen-Dazs has combined the two and hopefully it will be a winner.

Haagen-Dazs Limoncello Gelato Review

[By Nick, New for 2013, discontinued before 2016] Ever since my fairly positive encounter with Ben & Jerry’s Liz Lemon earlier this year, I have been seriously craving lemon flavored desserts. A quick glace through the freezer isle shows that lemon is a very neglected flavor when it comes to creamy applications. Sure there are tons of sorbets and Italian ices but there is little to none of it in ice cream form. So with one Haagen-Dazs gelato under my belt and a hunger for some lemon goodness, I thought it would be the perfect time to pick up Haagen-Dazs Limoncello Gelato.

Haagen-Dazs describes this one as “creamy lemon gelato with vodka.” Now I normally stay away from alcohol infused flavors since I’m straight edge and so I’m not really sure what to expect. However, one of my alcoholic versed friends informed me that vodka is essentially flavorless. Well okay, but then why would they include it in the first place since it adds no flavor? Whatever the case may be, I was less hesitant to give this one a try than I originally was.

Haagen-Dazs Cappuccino Gelato

[By Nick, New for 2013, discontinued before 2016] As the unofficial residential gelato expert here at On Second Scoop (I mean come on, my last name is Rovazzini and all) it was only a matter of time until I tried out Haagen-Dazs' latest endeavor into the world of gelato. To be honest, after Dubba reviewed the flavors that sounded the best, I really wasn't interested in trying the remaining flavors. The fruity ones both contain alcohol and we know HaagenDazs doesn't mess around when it comes to booze. So that leaves me with just their Cappuccino gelato. I've already tried G.S. Gelato's Tiramisu and more recently Ciao Bella’s Triple Espresso both of which I’d consider to be outstanding coffee gelatos. Let's see just how Haagen-Dazs stands up to its competition.

[Discontinued - 2013-2016] I was left a little perplexed after trying the H-D Dark Chocolate Chip Gelato several weeks ago, but there was no doubt in my mind I would be back for more flavors.

This is Haagen-Dazs Sea Salt Caramel Gelato and the mood has suddenly struck me for a late night snack. "sea salt caramel gelato blends ribbons of sea salt caramel into creamy caramel gelato" sounds like it should do just fine right now.

So what's the first big news of 2013? No, it's not Ben & Jerry's, it's quiet and reserved Haagen-Dazs that has taken the lead this year with their new lineup of Gelato! Who'd a thunk it? The infamously troubled five product line is going away and being replaced with 7 new flavors of gelato. We've got pints of black cherry amaretto, cappuccino, dark chocolate chip, limoncello, stracciatella and then there are pints and single serve cups of sea salt caramel and vanilla bean. That's a pretty fancy sounding line up but remember, Talenti has set the bar pretty darn high, so H-D needs to bring there A game.

Now I've been on the hunt for these bad boys for the last fews weeks now and where do I finally find them?  Walmart! I honestly wasn't expecting to find cappuccino and dark chocolate here. I did do a quick search through the back of the shelf hoping for more options but this is all that they had. Well, I do adore dark chocolate, so let's start there.
