Blue Chip Creamery Black Sheep Ice Cream Sandwich

Market Basket had a fresh looking restock of 5 Blue Chip Creamery ice cream sandwiches. They are a bit much at $6.79 a piece, but I know I can get three servings out of it, so let's bring home...

Blue Chip Creamery Black Sheep Ice Cream Sandwich
vanilla bean ice cream - crushed Oreos - Oreo wafers

The reason I didn't buy this flavor that time was because I was worried about the thin-looking wafers, but now that it's unpackaged and waiting to be eaten, those fears are fading away.

First, the obvious: this sandwich is way too thick to it. I know they mean well, but to me, the ice cream is twice as thick as it should be. As is, there is no proper way to eat it, plus you have to factor in that the soft wafers are going to stick to your hands.... and your face.

Second, the good news: the ice cream doesn't have that little bit of watery vibe that the strawberry had, so I will stick with my thought that they didnt tweak their base ice cream recipe to compensate for the water of the strawberries in Life is short(cake).

Third, the great news: You thought I was going to give bad news, didn't you? You should know by now that I adore cookies & cream based frozen treats, and this one gives you a ton of Oreo wafer flavor. It's impossible to start eating this sandwich without getting huge chunks of soft, flavorful, Oreo wafer with the excellent vanilla bean ice cream.

Man I like this sandwich. I just love when cookies and cream battle it out to be the dominant component. That's the way a good C&C flavor should be.

So, while this sandwich may be kind of ridiculous to eat, it's also very, very good. I would still consider this to be a special treat because of the price point, but I would 100% buy this one again.

On Second Scoop: I spent my waking hours thinking about slicing this sandwich in half (horizontally) for breakfast.... so I did. I do not regret my choice. It was quite tasty and now I've got one more third of a sandwich for tomorrow.

Verdict?  Delicious!
Buy Again?  Yes!
