Blue Chip Creamery Life is Short(cake) Ice Cream Sandwich

I didn't know anything about Blue Chip Creamery (their website) at the time, but apparently they make 9 ice cream sandwiches in all (I think MB has like 4 or 5 of them). They all look delicious, so let's not waste any more time.

Be honest, this makes you want to try one of these, right?

I will say that these have a nice lingering strawberry sugar cake aftertaste.

That said, these didn't hook me from the first bite like I thought they would.

At first I thought it was the strawberry ice cream. It's very dense and I would guess that it doesn't have a ton of air churned in to it.

Then I tried the cookies on their own, and I kind of regretted that choice. These huge, soft yet dense sugar cookies just don't taste quite right to me. Granted, I just sneezed like twelve times, so maybe my tastebuds are off, but I took two ice cream free bites and I was shocked by how weird the cookies came across.

As I often say a lot these days, these are not a bad treat, it's just that the visuals looked so good, I set the bar way to high in my mind. I expected amazing and that probably wasn't realistic.

I wound up only eating the middle section of the sandwich that you see above, so I can sneak a second "scoop" tomorrow or Monday.

I still want to pick up one of their chocolate cookie based sandwiches at some point (though the selection was quiet low the other day).

On Second Scoop: In just one bite I went from "maybe I was too hard on this" to "nah, my thoughts still stand". I didn't want to say this yesterday, but the ice cream has a mild watery vibe to it. Add that to the weird lingering cookie taste, and this one just isn't what I expected.

Verdict?  needs tweaking
