[New for Fall 2026] I usually avoid Walmart ice cream because of the cross contamination warning (and general low expectations), but when a commenter mentioned that this one reminded them of the old Edy's apple pie flavor, I couldn't help but pick up a container of....

Bettergoods Spiced Apple Pie Ice Cream
sea salt caramel ice cream with cinnamon spiced apples and pie crust pieces

That's a really solid opening (because of the giant chunks).
I take my first bite, and while it is unexpected salty, it's still really good. This is a "hooked in one bite" kind of flavor. Tons of flavor and a good texture? Count me in.
I take several more bites and I am enjoying every one of them. I kind of can't believe I'm saying this, but this is the kind of flavor profile that I expect from a scoop shop that makes their own ice cream.

I could easily eat this one all year long. It's not a straight apple flavor, it's got a nice mix of flavors instead. I feel like many will get a kick from the salty factor that's they balanced with a good amount of mix-in texture.
Ok, that was fun.... and I'm thinking it might be even more fun on top of a warm brownie tomorrow....
On Second Scoop: The brownie was maybe a bit much, but it was still really good..... so I did it again the next day, but this time I swapped out the cookie crumble topping for some cheerio oat crunch cereal. Definitely an upgrade.... ya know, I keep taking random bites of this ice cream and I keep thinking "how does this taste so good?" I'm getting apple, i'm getting caramel, i'm getting salty, i'm getting pie vibes. It's just hitting the spot this week, even if maybe a brownie sundae was a bit much at 7am.
For comparison: We were checking out the new-ish Sutton Creamery at Tony's when I decided to see if Richardson's Apple (Crisp?) ice cream was as exciting as Walmart's apple inspired flavor.... it was not. The funny thing is that the server warned me, but I didn't listen. I even tried a sample first, but the sample was 60% apple chunk, so i thought "oh, this could be good". I did finish my two scoops, but I wouldnt recommend the flavor except to the most ardent of apple fans. The apple flavoring to the base was just odd, and to make it worst, I tasted it for the rest of the day.
Verdict? really good!
Buy Again? yes!
