[New for 2026] I'm not 100% sure when my local Walmart started carrying the new Hot Pockets Snack Breaks, but I finally went by them slow enough to notice the apple pie version. Looking back, I do remember seeing the social media posts for this in the blue packaging, but I had totally forgotten about them until now. For $1.47, let's try a....

Hot Pockets Gooey Apple Pie Snack Breaks
For the record, I was a hot pocket fan once upon a time. It was just a cheap, easy lunch when I first started working 9 to 5. I can't remember the last time I had one though (I think I grabbed a pack for old times sake sometime between now and when I ate these regularly).
So there are air fryer directions and microwave directions, and while I am tempted to just use the microwave (cause I'm hungry), it probably makes more sense to cook one in the air fryer (for 14 minutes) and one in the microwave (for 75 seconds).

Like the directions said, one is (extra) crispy, and one is softer (squishy)....
For the record, the air fryer was not pre-heated, and I turned it off with like 2 minutes to go. I feel like the directions shouldn't have been that far off.
I go to pull the snacks apart so that they can cool off, and one cracks open and the other is a rubbery mess. I'm thinking you should avoid microwave directions at this point.
Actually, after having a few bites, I'm thinking you should avoid these in general. I had hoped that maybe, just maybe, these would remind me of a McDonald's apple pie. Instead they remind me of why I stopped eating hot pockets....
I honestly had hope that this would be an easy win, but it just doesn't work. The apple pie filling doesn't jive with the traditional hot pocket crust. Maybe if there was some ice cream on top of a non-burnt, air fried one, it would be ok-ish, but as is, I wouldn't bother.
Verdict? not worth it
Buy Again? nope
