I know I'm a few days behind on this post but I did do a quick anniversary instagram post on Friday for the blog hitting it's 18th birthday.... wait, can it vote in the November elections then? HA!! Sorry, you all know that this blog is meant to be a safe space away from all the other nonsense out there. No matter how you may feel about this or that, we're all here to just celebrate our love of frozen treats.
Now we probably don't really need to cover the upstairs freezer since it's basically full of leftovers and breakfast stuff, so let's take a peak at the downstairs freezer.

I've actually got 7 reviews queued up after this post. Two of those are hiding upstairs, but the rest are from the downstairs freezer, and technically you cant even seen them because I am trying a new trick. See that brown shopping bag in the middle of the right side of the photo? It's full of different ice cream treats. I like saving boxes, but they take up a bunch of room, so I started emptying the boxes in to that bag. I'm still saving the boxes, they just wont sit in the freezer for 1 to 10 months.
So, did anything catch your eye besides the stash of Ben & Jerry's flavors? There are a few more pints you can't see (1 more B&J, 1 Talenti, 1 HD).
Time to get Jeni's back on the blog, as well as the fun cereal inspired Gifford's flavor. Canton Creamery is a newer local place to try. Hopefully it goes better than the other local place I tried recently (review in the queue).
I bought dippin dots because fun, though i should try them before they get any older (they came out last year technically). The Tillamook bars are fine (review in the queue).
I keep forgetting the oatly and yasso are down there.... It probably doesn't show, but I've been trying a bit harder at being organized and prepping posts ahead of time. The biggest problem these days is just not having that 8pm computer energy that I had a decade or two ago.
If I wanted to add another small excuse, there is a part of me that doesnt enjoy taking photos with my phone anymore. I think it was my S9 that took the best photos and it's been downhill since then. Granted, I'm not roaming around and taking ice cream photos in random places as I come back from the grocery store, but I dont feel like modern photos have the same pop. Meh, it could just me being older and crankier.
Anyway, I am very much still here, but oh so much older than when I started this blog. I still very much enjoy ice cream, but I can't say that I enjoy all the food science nonsense. If money, travel time, and health were non-issues, me and my wife would just go to The Flannel Cow scoop shop every day and get amazing ice cream from there.
I know some of you have been around here a long, long time. Have you grown more intolerant of the nonsense? Or maybe you've just slowed down a bit in general? I still want to tell you about everything I see, but I no longer want to buy everything I see.
What else? Iunno, keep on truckin? I don't plan on stopping, but I'll still be shooting for a post a week though with the backlog, you will see more stuff for at least a few more weeks.
As always, feel free to comment, and also, have a good week!
Please don’t feel any pressure to post if you’re not in the mood. Just know that anything you write will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all of the sweet years of ice cream reviews!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading!
DeleteI agree! Sporadic posts are better than zero posts. We will take what we can get! Personally, I need nothing else to fade away from my life right now, and Im always looking for your posts.
DeleteLove these! I think I’ve been here since 2012 and they never get old.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe I used to do them every three months!
DeleteHappy Anniversary 🍾 I've been around since the beginning, and have grown tired of Fdd. I stick with brands I love like HD, and only purchase when there's a sale and if something special catches my eye like the new Fatboy novelties.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sticking with the blog!
DeleteI know it's pricey, but please do more new Jeni's releases.
ReplyDeleteI will try!
DeleteIt's so funny that you say you don't want to try EVERYTHING anymore. My boyfriend and I are in our 50s now, and we are very lactose enthusiastic. However, he was commenting the other night that he likes the ice cream I churn out in my cuisinart the very best. It's not as sweet as the mainstream products. I actually sub in date sugar for real sugar. When we do buy ice cream, we keep going back to the real stuff (no frozen dairy dessert) and stick to the combos of our fav flavors. I very much enjoy your blog though! It helps us know where to spend our money....and in this time of inflation, we appreciate that!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to break out the cuisinart again! (and thanks for sticking around!)
DeleteAbsolutely! I look forward to this blog. I just saw Entenmanns in conjunction with Turkey Hill has new little bites, etc ice cream. But....it's not ice cream...it's frozen dairy dessert. Why Turkey Hill??!! You have such a good natural base you could use more!
DeleteSuggestion for a review: consider reviewing some of the new ice cream candy bars out there. They’re really good, IMO, particularly the Butterfinger and 100 grand bars
ReplyDeletefunny you should say that....
DeleteHappy Scoopiversary! So glad I found this blog years ago; I’ll keep on reading (and scooping) as long as you keep on posting!🍦🍨
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAnother fan here! I like the wide variety of products you review: from fast food treats to premium. I even appreciate when you visit a small ice cream shop/brand that I don't have access to and sometimes I note them for traveling. I plan to stick around.
ReplyDeleteI mean to post more local stuff, but it almost always falls by the wayside. That said, if you are ever in Mansfield, MA, check out The Flannel Cow. So very good!
DeleteWhy do you have Oat ofThis Swirled in your photo? Im fairly certain you reviews that ages ago when it launched. Its ancient at this time.
ReplyDeleteAre you worried that I might eat a 9 year old pint of ice cream? Have no fear. I was at the store a few months ago, it was on sale, and I couldnt remember the last time I had it, so I bought it!
DeleteJust an FYI just found out OOTS was just discontinued this week. So the inferior replacement finally joins the GOAT Oatmeal Cookie Chunk in the graveyard. What is going on at B and Js? Its a mess.
DeleteMaybe they are preparing to bring back the GOAT?
