Turkey Hill Raspberry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

[New for 2017] To my great delight, I was excited when I heard that Turkey Hill was adding four new flavors to their All Natural line up. I do love this entire product line and am happy to see it grow. Now I won't be trying the new Mango or Mocha Chip flavors because those just aren't for me, but I am pretty excited about the new...

It looks more purple than this I swear...

For the record, I've grabbed a few more containers of their Blackberry Swirl flavor while I patiently waited for this one to come to my area. Don't ask me why, but Price Chopper is a year behind on the Turkey Hill release schedule, it's kind of frustrating.

I take a few bites and it's not what I expected. I've gotten used to the sweetness and mild nature of the blackberry flavor so I wasn't quite ready for this one. It's not woodsy like Talenti per say, and it's not artificial, but the flavor does have a little heft to it. In other words, it's not as sweet and sugary as a black raspberry flavor. This is more natural and I think I just need to settle in to it.

On Second Scoop: Ok, serving number two is in progress and yup, already tastes more familiar. It's kind of funny how it's somewhat mild yet somewhat distinct at the same time. It kind of tastes like I made a raspberry milkshake and then tried to throw in a bit of jelly to boost the flavor (how do I know this? because I've tried it ofcourse). It's not the usual way a flavor comes across so maybe that's what is throwing me off on these early tastings. My feelings may change by the end of the container, but as is, I'd probably pick up blackberry over raspberry but what's even more likely is that I would alternate between the two. Ok, second scooping finished. Thanks for giving us more options Turkey Hill.

Final Translation: enjoyed it, just don't love it because I set my expectation too high.

Verdict?  fine
Buy Again?  yeah

  1. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I'm looking forward to trying the new blueberry flavor. Also, looking back, I think it's funny that turkey hill was ahead of Häagen-Dazs in releasing a delicious vanilla/blackberry combo.

  3. For me and my toddlers the taste is not good as others like the almond butter and chocolate that they love. This one taste like cold medicines.
