Hostess Cupcakes Ice Cream

[New for early 2017] When I picked up the Twinkies ice cream I also picked up this flavor as well, and to keep it simple, this one is a beast.

Hostess Cupcakes Ice Cream

Opening shot.

Now I have had this on a few occasions. I stole a few bites when I opened it. I then made this sundae, and then I finally had it by itself. While some flavors require several bites to understand, you really only need one bite to get where this one is going.

This flavor is very strong and it's very sweet. It's something akin to biting the frosting off the top of a Hostess cupcake. I don't think I can emphasize enough how strong this one is. When I finally got to having it plain this last time, I barely got through eating the two small scoops I had in my bowl.

It's not that it's bad, that's not the problem. The flavor and sweetness is so intense that you basically forget about any problems you usually have with Edy's (Dreyer's) texture. It's just that it's going to be too much for a lot of people.

So, to recap. Lots of intense chocolate flavor. Lots of sweetness. Probably too much of those two for a lot of people. I am impressed that they went so bold and I am impressed that you will definitely be thinking of cupcakes when you eat this one.

Verdict?  very strong
Buy Again?  not my style

  2. Very sweet and intense on the chocolate flavor, you say? How could that possibly be bad?!

  3. @Stride: so you've never had anything that's too sweet in your entire life?

  5. Its like saying "I don't like this, it tastes too amazing." To me, theres no such thing. I would make Willy Wonka proud.

I take that back though. I once ate a tablespoon of pure sucralose power on a dare. THAT was too sweet, in that weird artificial sugar substitute way.

  6. Hey Dubba, did you see Ben & Jerry's new "Keep Caramel & Cookie On" flavor? It's being labeled as an exclusive, any idea where that might be? Considering B&J website still showa confetti cake, I'm wondering it it'll be for 7-Eleven

  7. Dubba, nope, never. The concept of being "too sweet" never applied to me. The sweeter, the better.
