Haagen-Dazs Lemon & Raspberry White Chocolate Trio Crispy Layers Ice Cream

[2018-2020] I've put in some good time on the 2018 product guide but it's not done quite yet (you'd be surprised how long it takes as I'm already a couple hours in to it). I'm going to do two more reviews first and first up is the last of the new Trio flavors. I can't imagine I won't like this. No I don't try a ton of lemon flavors but I know H-D quality should easily carry this flavor. Let's dig in to...

Haagen-Dazs Lemon & Raspberry White Chocolate Trio Ice Cream
lemon and raspberry ice creams with white chocolate and raspberry sauce

Haagen-Dazs is very precise about the chocolate and sauce layers not sticking out at the top, but don't let that fool you, they are very close.

Not my usual shot but don't show the layers ready to delight you. I expected quality and I got it. Other brands may have let either the lemon or raspberry get out of hand, but not here. Both are balanced and controlled. Once the white chocolate swirl kicks in then the true summer fun starts. It's just a nice flavor. The lemon accentuates rather than batting you over the head.

And it's typical Haagen-Dazs quality ofcourse. I really like this and could easily keep eating it, but I really should go mow, so I will. I'm looking forward to more bites later.

On Second Scoop: I've had this one on several occasions now and it's just a nice, mellow flavor. It has flavor mind you, but it's trying trying to be an easy breezy summer afternoon, not a solar flare. It's ok with you having 5 bites or 50. The lemon is there, the raspberry is there, and the crunch is there. I thought I had said this earlier, but I'd much rather have this kind of controlled approach than Magnum's white chocolate tub. I don't want to be beat over the head with sweetness while I inhale a soft ice cream. I'd much prefer to slow snack on something like this.

Verdict?  nice summer flavor
Buy Again?  sure

  1. Had to get that dig at Magnum in there, huh? And, I think you were trying to say accentuates. I still prefer the Magnum line overall, but this is definitely the best Trio, and certainly on par with all Magnums, and ahead of a couple .

  2. How did auto-correct not catch that?

I'm cool with people digging the Magnum fun factor, I just prefer my ice cream a little more old school :)

  3. I was hoping the raspberry layer was more jam-like in consistency and not crunchy. Liked the lemon and chocolate combo though.

  4. did you let it tempter to get rid of the crunch? That said, I too wish it had been thicker and gooey-er. I thought the same thing with the caramel one.

  5. I would love to try this one out. I appreciate it when I find a hidden flavor in anything sweet.
