[New for 2018] You know what I haven't done in a really long time? Check to see if they ever built any more Sonic Drive-Ins in my area. It seemed like forever that my only choice was the one outside Boston (meaning it was 70-75 minutes from my house). That's too far to go, but guess what? There are now 6 Sonics in my area and it's time for a family snack break.

[New for 2014] Alright, time for our annual pilgrimage to Sonic to use up some free gift cards. I'm not quite sure how it always winds up being just once a year, maybe it's the fact that it's over an hour away, but at least it happens. See, on Monday, I was very tempted to rant about our uneventful summer.... but then I realized I still had one final day to do something special for my kids. Six Flags decided to not be open on the last day of summer (aka #FAIL), but the beach is still open.... oh yeah, it's gonna be a beach day and we're gonna hit Sonic on the way home. Time to make some memories.

Hello! Did everyone enjoy the long weekend? We certainly made the (tiring) most of it and decided to wrap it up with a trip to Sonic. As you may know, we hit up Sonic about once a year to check on what's new. We don't usually go to Sonic because it's an hour-plus drive, but Sonic has had a habit of sending over free gift cards to sponsor the visits. Oh well, I still have a few cards left, so let's see what this trip has in store.

Ok, let me get you salivating with this first shot before I start raining on the parade a bit. Now every time we've gone to Sonic, it's either been when it's cold or late, so I've never truly experienced a packed Sonic. Like "we got the last parking space" packed. What should have been a quick visit turned into a 2 hour detour on our ride home. Part of this was my fault and traffic's fault, but most of it was just super slow service.

Oh, do I need to tell you about our worthwhile stop at Sonic last night. About a month ago, Sonic sent over a $20 gift card for us to go try the new Sundae Shakes (you may remember the giveaway we had). Well, we were headed back from our annual pilgrimage to visit my bud's family up at York beach and the day wouldn't have been complete without some ice cream.

Wow, it's 8 o'clock and Sonic is still very busy with only a few bays open. Quite the difference from our scant company during our December review. We start the perusing and the sundae shakes are no where to be found! Oh no! I know they said limited time but at least give me 'til Labor Day! I pushed the big red button for service. The button stopped flashing, I waited a few minutes, and then pushed it again. "Hi, welcome to sonic, may I take your order?" (or something to that effect).

"Do you still have Sundae Shakes?"

Our Very First Trip to Sonic!

That's right, we finally made it to Sonic! I know it was July, but remember the Sonic prizes I got to hand out? Well, included in all the wonderful hub bub was a gift card for me too, problem was, there's only one in the state, and it's well over an hour away.

It's kinda busy, but not crazy busy. It's probably a good time to point out you have 3 choices. 1 - you can pull into a bay. 2 - there is actually a covered place with a bunch of tables where you can sit (there is a menu in the middle for all to share). 3 - there is also a drive thru. (there is no indoor seating, but yes, there are bathrooms). We went with #1 to get the full Sonic drive-in experience
