McDonald's S'mores McFlurry

[June 10 to August 11, 2025] Except for Hot Cakes, I don't eat at McDonald's anymore... but as I was driving by one today, I saw a big poster for the S'mores McFlurry. Well, I do love S'mores, and it's been six years since I had a McFlurry, so it's time to order a....

McDonald's Stroopwafle McFlurry

[New for 2019] There's finally a new McFlurry for the first time in a long time... maybe I missed reviewing one, but it's been six long years since my last mcflurry review.

McDonald's Eggnog Shake

I'll admit it, I kind of feel like a heel for trying the new** McDonald's shake. I mean, eggnog isn't my thing, it's my wife's thing, but, well, I wanted to post about something today.

McDonald's Eggnog Shake

Anyway, I had this shake on this wonderful sunny day and it's not bad. It tastes exactly as you would expect a McDonald's eggnog shake to taste. It's not too strong, nothing offensive going on, and their standard lightweight shake texture to boot. It's distinctly eggnog but stays fairly mellow and reasonable. That's really all there is to it. So, are you interested?

**Note: I would have bet you money that the commercial for this said it was new. And while I want to say it didn't seem new, I went with what I thought I heard. Well, It's not even remotely new. Like, they were advertising it way back in 1988! Sorry for not doing more research before posting.

The Shamrock Shake Showdown,
the Nosh Show Episode 25,
and our 1000th review!

Well, it's been almost 6 years in the making, but the time has final come to deliver our 1000th review! Can you believe that, 1000 reviews? Not a 1000 posts or even a 1000 reviews, but 1000 products have been reviewed since the start of this blog! Wow, just wow! You want to talk about being crazy for ice cream, then you've come to the right place!

To celebrate, I made my way to the local DQ, but not before I stopped at McDonald's. That's right my friends. The "beloved" bright green McDonald's Shamrock Shake is gonna face off against the new Mint Oreo Royal Shake from Dairy Queen. May the best shake get finished!

McDonald's Pralines & Cream McFlurry Review

[New for Fall 2013] Look, we all have "one of those days". The kind of late in the week, stumble out of bed, poke yourself in the eyeball with bills as you go to the mailbox, just worn out kind of days where you wind up eating junk food all day long. As you get older, it's probably best to have less of these days, and thankfully it's been a good while since I had one myself. Let's see, I had an ice cream sandwich for breakfast, cookies, peanuts, and cheese puffs for snack, and now a McFlurry for lunch, but don't worry, I'll eat a healthy dinner (yeah, that's the ticket).

McDonald's new Dulce de Leche shake
and the Nosh Show Episode 6

So, are ya ready for the next Nosh Show? Episode 6 of The Nosh Show is now available! Head on over to The Nosh Show website to listen and to see a complete rundown of everything we talked about. It's an interesting episode that delves deep into my inner crankiness. Sorry, but seriously, we cover the usual gamut of upcoming craziness but also take the time to point out some of the majors winners and failures of the first half of the 2013 noshing season. Hopefully you'll enjoy this latest episode. Please feel free to leave comments here or on the nosh show website.

As always, we try to jam in some product testing between shows and so for this one let me share with you the new McDonald's Dulce de Leche shake. If you're like me and can't say Dulce de Leche, have no fear, McDonald's has subtitled this new treat as the "new Caramel shake" on their menu board.

McDonald's Strawberry Shake
and the bestest food podcast ever

Did you hear the news? Marvo has started up a podcast called The Nosh Show and for the first episode it will be him, Eric the Junk Food Guy, Ryan the founder of GrubGrade, and yours truly. Sure I only blog about ice cream, but the amount of time I spend roaming the streets and grocery stores for new frozen treats will hopefully let me keep up with my very knowledgeable co-hosts.

Now this is the first official episode which hopes to introduce the basic concepts of the show as well as introduce ourselves to the audience. From there we do a interested/not interested discussion and then move on to some various topics. We finish up with some of our favorite recent reviews and hopefully leave you wanting another episode.

Here are your choices for connecting with the show: subscribe on itunes, RSS feed for your podcast program of choice, a blog, twitter, and facebook. Now the plan is to put out a new episode every other week. Please let us know what you think!

Not being 100% sure how the first show would work out, I tried to prepare by hitting up McDonald's for lunch. I had the rather enjoyable Crispy Chicken and Bacon Premium McWrap (that was suppose to be half off but wasn't), I tried one of my 2 for a dollar strawberry and creme pies, and I washed it all down with a small strawberry shake.

McDonald's Holiday Mint McFlurry Review

[New for 2012] Well, I told you I was on a mint flavored bender, but don't worry, this should be the last mint review for awhile. (I sure hope no more mint treats come out for awhile)

McDonald's New Caramel Apple Sundae Review

[New for 2011, seasonal?] So, there I am, peacefully eating my Wendy's Bacon Cheeseburger. The wind is blowing through the open car windows, the radio is playing... well, music, and I'm "happily" spilling on myself... twice. I'm enjoying my little spot and decide to do a little quick twitter check....

McDonald's is doing the caramel apple thing??? Well, that's what Marvo said, and he liked it too! 9 years ago I gave up having dessert and lunch at the same time, and now here I am wanting to chase my burger with some tasty McD's caramel sauce...  ugg, it will have to wait...

I never said HOW LONG I would wait though! I decided to take it easy on the afternoon snacks and instead saved up for this cute little treat on the way home. I apologize that my cell phone has trouble with the sun. Let me take the cover off and....

McDonald's Fruit & Yogurt Parfait
( it's new to me! )

Well, we've had quite the busy and crazy weekend and it all started with this little bugger from McDonald's. My wife saw it was just a dollar and figured I should give it and try. It's a good thing she did, because it's actually quite tasty.
That's right, no complaints here. It's a sweet (non-tart) yogurt mixed with fresh berries (mostly strawberries) and some granola (the green baggie behind the cup). I had a few non-mixed bites to test the components and once realizing they were all decent, I did my mixing thing and quickly scarfed this 120 calorie treat. I have no problems recommending this to everyone.

So Many Calories.....

In exchange for working all last weekend, my new company graciously gave me two days off in exchange. Hmmm, I sure could use a long weekend, and it was made so. We had an appt in the morning to take care of, but the rest of the day was ours, so we headed out to see the final piece of the Harry Potter Puzzle. Like many critics have said, it's good, but there is ALOT of talking. In a way it felt more like a clip show then a finale, but we still enjoyed it overall.... ofcourse our enjoyment was helped by some horribly unhealthy yet fantastically tasty Ben & Jerry's milkshakes. So it's a thousand plus calories of super awesome creaminess, but it's not like I do it more than once or twice a year. My wife went with cookie dough again, but I went with Sweet Cream & Cookies and oh my expecto patronum was it good. So cold, so rich, so sweet, so magically perfect. It's so hard for me not to chug these things down. You know, if I haven't convinced you to try a B&J milkshake by now then apparently I'm doing a terrible job of blogging.

I think my brain hurts

Oh, and just for the record, I don't recommend Glow Golf to anyone over the age of 4. It was $18 for the two of us to play 36 holes. I was good after about 9 holes (which explains those places that only offer nine). It's a novelty that gets boring really quickly. Look, I take mini golf very seriously ever since my golfer mom started taking me as a kid. The whole thing was immensely repetive because there are no curves or long shots, it's all just right angles. the "grass" doesnt glow, so there is no difference between it and the floor. In fact, the putter doesn't glow either, only the balls and the walls do.

I can't tell you which hole this is because they all blurred together (especially the second set of 18 holes). I get the benefit of doing something indoors with air conditioning during the hot hot summer, but even then, this place was nearly desserted (though it was dinner time). After awhile, the black lights started messing with my mind and everything was looking hazy. Look, I love the outdoors and I love mini golf... I love the breeze hitting me as I line up my next shot, or gazing around at a whatever whacky waterfall or contrapation has been built infront of me, but this was just boring. I will admit that true Monster Mini Golf is probably more exciting, but even then, Friday's experience has soured me to the whole indoor golfing craze.

Ok, until tomorrow's tasty (and crunchy) review.

McDonald's "NEW" Rolo Mcflurry
a.k.a. that didn't go so well

[New for 2011, seen 2012, gone 2013 >>> returning May 24 to Sept 11, 2017]
Yeah, I'm going to be upfront about this one, this review didn't go so well and I don't feel very well right now. Oh, I know, I should start from the beginning.

Adam from GrubGrade mentioned the new Rolo McFlurry was coming and I knew I had to try it. I like Rolos, that make a nice once in a while snack, but I don't keep them in stock because I usually just blow right through them. McDonald's across the country seem to have gotten the jump on things and released on May 27th. Hoping my local McD's would do the same yesterday, I rushed off only to be disappointed. I was content to wait a few more days when a certain someone on a certain island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean pops up with a review this morning. Oh the jealousy! I must rectify this immediately.

I finally made it out to lunch, tried running a few errands (both fails), decided to head back to the office when I spied a different McDonald's. Hmmm, I think we need to give it a try.... YES! Success! There's a big picture on the menu for the new limited time only McFlurry. I quickly rushed in line and grabbed my treat.

Now Marvo was complaining about not getting enough caramel.... well, I had the opposite problem. I swear, it felt like I got a double helping of it or something. That, or my server was terrible at blending because the second half of my McFlurry lacked both rolo bits and sauce and was effectively plain softserve. (not that it doesn't happen at DQ, it's just not as drastic).

McDonald's M&M McFlurry : Love it to Bits!

Ok, I didn't really love it, but after forgetting where exactly the nearest Wendy's was in relation to where I was, I decided to check in at that place that I never go: McDonald's.

While Europe enjoys Magnum McFlurries, and the U.K. enjoys Smartie McFlurries and... well, I could drive a few hours north and have me a Canadian Golden Oreo McFlurry, but around here, I had two choices: Oreo and M&M (funny, Australia has the same two choices).
