DQ Superman Cake Batter Cookie Dough Blizzard

[New for June 2025] Who's excited for the new Superman movie? I know I am, as our several people I know. I'm hoping we get back to what makes Superman such a great character. I've just never dug the Henry Cavill / Zach Snyder version of Superman (though I am a huge fan of the Tyler Hoechlin version). Anyway, before the movie comes out next month, the blizzard is here now!

So while I'm taking pictures of the blizzard, my daughter chimes in with "this doesn't taste like anything". Ummm, what now? I'm a big fan of the frosted cookie dough blizzard, so I thought this could be a winner. Maybe she's just exaggerating a little....

I take my first bite and I get what she means. Somehow the cookie dough and the cake batter have cancelled each other other. You expected to be blasted with flavor, or at least sweetness, but it's just not there. It's like disconcertedly non-distinct.

I mean there's flavor, sort of, but....  where's the pop? it's just...meh. I started digging in to my french fries, and those were tasty, but then I would go back to the blizzard and be disappointed again.

We started thinking of ideas of what this should have tasted like. My daughter was thinking a yellow lemon base with a red raspberry swirl and maybe blue cake pieces. That would be fun!

My thought? The Midwest has Superman ice cream, so why couldn't DQ introduce the rest of the country to a blizzard inspired by that ice cream? That would have been fun too!

As with all DQ reviews, your mileage will vary. Maybe you'll get more cake batter flavor in yours or something. I know mine certainly wasn't light on the cookie dough. I had so much extra that I wound up dumping a pile of them into my wife's dipped strawberry cheesecake blizzard.

Oh, FYI, the sprinkles are a non-factor. They were soft and I barely noticed them.
