Kellogg's Froot Loops Ice Cream

[New for Early 2025] Yes, I gave in and tried another cereal flavor. I didn't have super high hopes, but I thought maybe things would turn out differently this time.... Nope. Instead, this confirmed my feelings about the cereal inspired line up and this will probably be the last of the cereal flavors that I review (though I did just see a video saying that the apple jacks flavor was the best of the bunch, which I can see making sense. anyway...).

Kellogg's Froot Loops Ice Cream
cereal milk-flavored ice cream blended with Kellogg's froot loops cereal pieces

seal removed, it looks potentially cool, but it also kind of smells like the frosted flakes flavor

Oh weird, it kind of tastes like froot loops but it also kind of tastes like that frosted flakes flavor

My wife is trying this one too, and she's kind of put off by the aftertaste. I take a few more bites and I get what she means. It's not a clean/distinct flavor, it's more of the muddled cereal milk flavor that you would get at the end of a bowl of fruit loops.

So, it's gonna be a meh on this one. It just doesn't break down right on the ol' tastebuds. It's a muddled flavor and makes you want something more..... more better.

This one did melt fairly quickly in the mid-May sun as I took pictures, so the melted sides might be throwing me off... but nah, I think I just dont like this one. It's not necessarily bad, but I dont think I would ever crave it....   though maybe I should put it on my actual froot loops :)

On Second Scoop: I snuck a few bites the day after and I just don't like it, but incase you think I don't like cereal ice creams in general, please remember that I think the lucky charms shake at cold stone is freaking amazing. Like I want one every day amazing. I'd be happy if this ice cream was a quarter as good as that shake is. I just don't feel like it should have been that hard to make this taste more like froot loops and a little less like food science. It's frustrating.

Verdict?  meh

  1. Right there with you.

And they upped the price from 4.99 to 5.99 for these at my local Kroger. Outrageous.
