[New for 2025] My Walmart has space for all of the new Kellogg's treats, but only today's treat was put out yet (or maybe the only one left?). $6.87 buys me a box of 3....

Rice Krispies Treats Triple Chocolate Ice ream Sandwiches
chocolate ice cream with a chocolate sauce, sandwiched between two cocoa crispy marshmallow squares

I guess it's a decent size, and I do like the shiny wrapper.
(though how can it be four fluid ounces when it's 60% non-fluid rice krispies?)

That's not a square, that's a rectangle!
(Hey, somebody had to say it!)
The first word that comes to mind is.... stale.
It's surprisingly easy enough to eat (for a solid treat), but yeah, this doesn't have the same pop as a freshly unwrapped rice krispies treat, and I would know since I've been snacking on the homestyle ones for the last several weeks.
The overall flavor profile is fun. It's cheap chocolate ice cream surrounded by chewy, chocolatey rice krispies. It's a fun idea...
...and my hand is covered in chocolate. whoops. (though to clarify, overall the sandwich has held it's shape very well, it's just that I was holding it funny so that I could type while eating).
It's kind of got a fun chocolate milk aftertaste, so that's a bonus.
Yeah, I ate that too quickly, but I do love rice krispies treats and I do love ice cream, so, you aren't surprised by that.
So it's not amazing, but it was fun, though I wouldn't mind 4 in the box for $6 versus this arrangement. It's definitely good enough to justify trying the original flavor and strawberry flavor and I suspect the strawberry will wind up being my favorite.
And for the record, yes, you could totally just slice a homestyle rice krispies treat in half and throw some ice cream in the middle of it for the same effect. Just make sure you use an ice cream that's dense enough to not go everywhere.
On Second Scoop: A little less impressive the second time as you start to realize that none of the components are top notch, but it's still fun. Sticky chocolatey fingers are definitely a factor here, though next time I will just leave it partially in the wrapper as I eat it. I still like it even if I don't love it.
Verdict? fun enough
