[New for 2021] What's in the freezer right now? Not much in the way of treats, but I have a hopeful suspicion that I will like these more than the chocolate/chocolate version.

I always pick the lopsided one to photograph.

I take one bite and realize my prediction was correct: this sandwich is way better with the vanilla filling. The chocolate filling dominated the other version while the vanilla ice cream in this one is just the medium to keep the cookies together. There is some vanilla flavoring, but by no means overrides any other flavors.

I like the cookies too. Now, they aren't the super flavorful kind like you find in the M&M chocolate cookie ice cream sandwich, but they are good. 

Yeah, I like this sandwich. It's what you would expect when you see the box. That may sound simplistic, but in a world of overhyped everything, it's nice to have something that just works.

On Second Scoop: When I covered the other sandwich, a few people mentioned that the cookies seemed dry to them. I'm not saying they are wrong, but I don't know if it's a bad thing. I don't always need a cookie that sticks to my fingers or is ooey gooey. I'm ok with a brand being a little drier if it's in the right context. I like that contrast between the cookie and the ice cream. I'd be happy to have this, the M&M version, and the chipwich version all in my freezer and then just pick whichever one I am in the mood food. Similar but not the same.
