Serendipity Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

[New for Fall 2019, Discontinued?] So my big plan here was to reveal all three new Serendipity flavors in a row. (When you get free samples like this, it just seems like the right thing to do).

Serendipity Dulce de Leche Ice Cream
caramel flavored ice cream with salty caramel swirl

If I can jump right to the point, the caramel base is a definitely a better companion to the salty swirl than the vanilla was (as seen in Salty Caramel Pretzel). The swirl just doesn't seem as shocking or out of place here.

To clarify, I'm not saying the base has a ton of caramel flavor, it's just that the base now drives you towards the caramel swirl. Is it possible the swirl is slightly less salty here? Technically the overall salt content has gone from 11% to 9% per serving, but part (if not all) of that change could probably be blamed on the missing pretzels.

Would I prefer this over the pretzel version? You know, I might, though I can't help but wonder if it would be better to just combine the two. Would it all balance out or would it somehow make things worse? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

On Second Scoop: tomorrow! (maybe on a waffle)

Verdict?  better than salty caramel pretzel?

  1. It could just be me, but when you mentioned Dulce de Leche in the previous review I assumed it would be less salty. It could be the pretzels, it could be a batch to hatch variation. But the other flavor is literally named Salty Caramel whereas this is Dulce De Leche with a salty caramel swirl.

I guess it doesnt make sense for them to have two different Salted caramels, but I feel like Dulce de Leche shouldn't be a normal caramel flavor and a flavor with salt in its name should be more salty.
