DQ Blizzard of the Month : The Buster Bar Blizzard

Ever since I started my new job many many moons ago, there has been a nagging question in the back of my brain that I was unwillingly to answer. Maybe I was afraid of that answer, or maybe I was afraid of the cost of gas, but no matter! The question is: Can I make it back to the DQ by my old job and then back to my new job in under an hour? Well I'm happy to report I made it there, and back, with time to spare. Blizzards are back on the second scoop menu!

May's blizzard of the month is the very fun sounding Buster Bar Blizzard. It's billed as a treat filled with hot fudge, peanuts, and choco chunks.

And here's what mine actually looks like. It's not like they ever look like their picture, so I'm not worried about that. I just want to know how it tastes, and it tastes fun! I know I expect too much sometimes, but I really like when the blizzard of the month is unique, and the buster bar blizzard definitely qualifies for two big reasons.

1) The peanuts. I can't remember the last time I had regular plain peanuts in my ice cream. No chocolate, no sugar, no honey roasting anything. Just good old fashion, fresh peanut halves floating all over the place.

2) the choco "chunks". I have to pick and say these are not fudge chunks like you see in the picture, no no no... these are better than chunks. What they are is hunks of buster bar shell and it adds a nice fun chocolate factor to the whole blizzard. It's a fairly unique shell that was giving me hints of cocoa or dark chocolate here and there.

Together, these factors come together and make a nice unique blizzard. You know what? I just made myself hungry for another one. They've done a pretty good job of giving the impression of shoving of buster bar into a blizzard blender. Now I am going to say this one is probably aimed a bit more at peanut fans, but it's different and I like it. Heck, throw in an extra scoop of peanuts and shell and this puppy would zoom up near the top of the blizzard list (technically you can ask for an extra scoop of topping for like 35 cents -- I wonder what would best enhance our new little friend here).

Ok, you've been warned. You have 18 days to go try this!
