Gifford's Cannoli Ice Cream

[New for 2021] I remember this coming out and being pretty excited, but then I never got around to trying it.... until now! (with now meaning 3 months ago hehehe)

Gifford's Cone-y Pretzel Whirl Ice Cream

[New for 2022] For the first time in a very long time, the Mrs. and I went out for sundaes yesterday. Now technically we stopped at Sonic first, but after reading their extremely boring menu, we started searching around for something a bit more worthy of our time. Well, we came upon Moose Trackers in Scituate, RI. It's a fun little place that popped up in 2020 and they happen to have Gifford's two news flavors: Blue Monstah Cookie and....

Gifford's Peanut Butter Pie Ice Cream

I can't tell you how long I've waited to try this ice cream. It's been literal years. It popped up on the scene forever ago but it was never anywhere practical. I would only see it at Wegman's and I wasn't about to bring home a big quart of peanut butter ice cream. So, I waited. And waited. And waited. And then, the Stop & Shop by work decided to start carrying Gifford's. It's only one shelf and there's only like four options, but one of those four is a fresh delivery of....

Gifford's Maine Lobster Tracks Ice Cream

I headed over to Roche Bros at lunch to use up my last Gifford's replacement coupon before it expires at the end of the month. I decided to be very regional with my food choices. I grabbed a "Pilgrim Sandwich" (turkey, stuffing, and cranberry mayo on rye), Nantucket Nectars Grapeade (love this stuff!), and then I got to one very barren freezer display. There were literally four Gifford's choices before me, two that I've tried, one involving banana, and then this fellow:

Gifford's Golden Road Butter Brickle Ice Cream

So after my run in with their toffee flavor, the fine folks over at Gifford's contacted me about my experience. It was just a quick, honest conversation from people who care about their customers, not just their image. I appreciate that... and the pair of coupons they sent over. Most people I meet in the industry are nice like that, it's one of the things I love about running this blog. Ok, enough of that, I think it's time to check out another flavor from Gifford's.

Gifford's Mount Katahdin Crunch Ice Cream

Searching for a nice low sodium lunch, I found myself staring at Gifford's ice cream on sale for $2.99 a quart. Usually there is more to pick from, and I really had my heart set on finding their peanut butter ice cream today, but Roche Bros has given up two of Gifford's shelves to make room for Yuengling ice cream. Hmmm, alright then, let's try this flavor instead.

Gifford's Campfire S'mores Ice Cream

Ok, you guys know I love s'mores flavors, but do you remember what I'm always look for in particular? Graham! Whether it's a swirl or a mix-in or the flavor of the base, the closer you get to graham, the happier I'll be. Well, I'm really happy with my latest purchase

Gifford's Flyfishing Fudge Ice Cream

Alright, it's been a really long time since we had Gifford's on the blog. So long in fact that since the last review, Gifford's (of Maine) bought Gifford's (of Maryland) to really take their operation up a notch. Now they do have several fun new flavors this year that I've been meaning to try, but I had no particular intentions of trying them today until I saw that Gifford's ice cream quarts were undergoing a rare sale for $2.99 a piece. That's too good a deal to pass up. Now to pick a flavor....

Gifford's Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip
Frozen Yogurt Review

Ok, another lost review. Thankfully this review is only a month old. When I made the awful mistake of trying Arctic Zero, I had also bought a quart of Gifford's froyo to wash it down (and kept the trip from being a total waste).

This is BLACK RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE CHIP YOGURT incase you couldn't tell.... do they really need to yell with their big purple font here? I'm sorry, but this packaging is just offensive in the fact that not only do they not show the product, they are SCREAMING the name out. Oy....

Gifford's Famous Ice Cream Review
Chocolate Rainforest Crunch

The Pike was all backed up last week so I decided to take a new way home, and I'm glad I did because I discovered a Roche Bros grocery store near work. Stop laughing, I said Roche, not Roach... oh nevermind. I shop at a lot of places to keep this blog going and it's nice to find a new grocery store chain because they are most likely to have different products (at a decent price).

I headed over during lunch on Thursday and found what I was looking for. Sure, I wasn't real excited at first, but then I saw it, Gifford's of Maine ice cream right here in my own backyard. Look, if I say Vermont, you say "Ben & Jerry's". If I say Mass, you might say "Brigham's" or "Friendly's" (or Hood), but if I say Maine, your answer should be either "Shain's of Maine" or "Gifford's". I don't mean to get too excited, but keep in mind that I haven't seen Gifford's in a grocery store since visting Ben & Jerry's (photo proof here).

Now Roche Bros has got some of Gifford's traditional half gallon containers down bottom, but most of this freezer section is taken up with their (new size?) quart containers which are on sale at 2 for $7 (no shopping card required, yippee!)

Now I had an awful time picking what I wanted. Do I go with the local favorite Grapenut? Do I give their black raspberry frozen yogurt a try? So many choices, but I kept coming back to the one you see: Chocolate Rainforest Crunch! Don't even try to pretend like that doesn't sound fun.
