Edward's Pie Slices

During the lull before the 2022 ice cream season (Aka early 2022), I decided to pick up these Pie Slices from Price Chopper. It's been almost 4 years since Edward's has been on blog, so let's get them back on here (last review was the chocolate cream pie version).

Edward's Hershey's Chocolate Cream Pie Slices

Wow oh wow, it's been over 8 years since I had Edwards on the blog? Ouch. It was back when they use to do those funky sundae cups that you would microwave the bottom half and then dump the ice cream cup on top. I wanted to say that at one point they had contacted me about maybe trying some of their newer stuff but I can't find an email to prove it (so I'm probably imagining it). Well, summer is here and I'm not really finding anything new anymore, so let's try....

Edwards Singles Hot Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Creamy Ice Cream

First we tried the new Chocolate Chip singles, but now it's time to try the free sample of the Molten Lava Chocolate Cake (the one that I'm guessing is a mirror of hot fudge brownie.

Edward's Singles Hot Chocolate Chip Cookie with Creamy Ice Cream

A few weeks ago I got an email saying that there were -3- new Edward's singles coming to the market. Better yet, I was offered a couple of free coupons to try the new flavors: Hot Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Creamy Ice Cream, Hot Chocolate Chip Cookie with Creamy Ice Cream and Hot Apple Crumb Cake with Creamy Ice Cream. The funny thing is, two of those flavors sound very familar:

New Hot Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Creamy Ice Cream sounds alot like Hot Fudge Brownie with Creamy Ice Cream. New Hot Apple Crumb Cake with Creamy Ice Cream sounds alot like Hot Apple Crisp with Creamy Ice Cream. I guess that means we need to try Hot Chocolate Chip Cookie with Creamy Ice Cream.

And here it is! 2 chocolate chip cookie batter bowls with 2 chocolate chip & butter fudge ice cream cups. Hmm, now there's a term you don't here every day: "butter fudge". These were $2.25 at walmart and just slightly more at Shaws.

Edwards Singles: Hot Fudge Brownie with Creamy Ice Cream

Ahhh, Edwards, you've created yourself quite the little treat, and somewhat affordable to boot (I think a little over a buck a piece isn't bad at all, but many have argued that a pan of brownies and a container of ice cream is a better deal).

First I tried the pleasant Hot Turtle Brownie single. Next up was the respectable Hot Apple Crisp. Well, finally, we have the one you see in the commercials: Edwards Hot Fudge Brownie. Mmmmm, can't wait!
Ok, it's opened up and ready for the microwave.

Edwards Hot Apple Crisp with Creamy Ice Cream

After spending way too much time mowing, I knew exactly what I wanted for my snack: Edwards Hot Apple Crisp with Creamy Ice Cream. The exact description is a Cinnamon Apple bowl with an almond crumb & caramel topped ice cream cup.Just like before, you heat up the bowl and then plop on the ice cream. Simple, yet effective, and enjoyable. The toasty warm apples hit the spot but dominate the entire treat. You just don't really taste, well think, about anything else. The ice cream is there, and it adds a nice hot/cold contrast, but this is an apple treat, not an ice cream treat. I also couldn't tell if an aftertaste was starting to build up there at the end.
Overall I say it's good but not fantastic. I think it's a worthy treat to have in freezer in case the mood hits you for a hot apple treat.

Edwards Singles Hot Turtle Brownie with Creamy Ice Cream

Never heard of Edwards even though they've been around since 1950? yeah, me neither. Now, don't get me wrong, it's often the new guy on the block who has something to prove, and today, well, the "new" guy has brought something mighty unique to the table. For $2.25 for 2 servings, I humbly present Edwards Singles (one of those new treats I mentioned in my monday post).
