[New for 2025] It's kind of funny how often these are NOT in stock at Walmart. Occasionally I'll see a few boxes of strawberry or cinnamon, but I have yet to see the chocolate version. Alright, I've put off trying these long enough, let's open....

Kellogg's Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts Ice Cream Sandwiches
brown sugar cinnamon flavored ice cream sandwiches between two frosted cinnamon-filled toaster pastries

I still love these wrappers.

So hard to photo beige things.
I think my favorite part is the crunch/texture of these. It's not a soft warm poptart, it's a fun frozen poptart.
I think what's my least favorite part right now (and I say that mildly, not aggressively), is that this pop-tart doesn't pop. It's fine and all, but I'm waiting for it to pop in to action and it's not. That non-pop can be attributed both to the texture of the ice cream and also a lack of pop in the flavor. Would something like a caramel swirl or a harder mix-in help? Maybe.
I forgot to mention this with the strawberry version, but if you really wanted, you could probably down one of these in six bites.
We'll see how the second scoop goes now that my expectations are adjusted (lowered). I have gotten more bored with these Kellogg treats as I get through a box, but maybe this will be the flip side where I like it more as I go. Let's see if I can pick the right time to try the next one.
On Second Scoop: You know what the real problem is? It's the ice cream in the middle. It's terrible. Pop-tarts are pop-tarts, but whoever designed this ice cream filling needs to go back to the drawing board. It does not taste good.
Verdict? disappointing
Buy Again? No
Buy Again? No
I loved the strawberry one so I was excited for this one. What a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteI'm at different grocery stores 3-4 times a week and I still haven't ever seen these. Kroger, Wegmans, Harris teeter, Walmart, Food Lion. I've only seen the eggo ones.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's not a bad thing, though.
Wow!
DeleteDubba, we are starting to get really aligned with products we have both had. I've only had the strawberry but felt the same. The texture of the pop-tarts was well done but flavor overall was lacking. I was hesitant based on price but bought them on impulse. They were fine to check off the list but I can't see trying the others. Have you seen anything on a release date for the pint versions? I will be interested to see how they stack against the Rice Krispy, Kellogs and Blue Bell "Pop Tart" pints.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I forgot about the pints! The only thing my quick search turned up was Markie Devo saying on 6/25 that the pints were delayed. After trying two of the three sandwiches, maybe that's a good thing.
