Oh man! That is a fun looking treat!
I take my first bite and I like it. I'm already thinking about buying another box. It nails the mint cookies & cream vibe, and you know I love cookies & cream.
I think you could argue that it could use a little more ice cream to balance out against the drying cookie crumble, but overall, yeah, this one is totally up my alley. It's got the flavor and the texture.
Honestly, I think my only "complaint" would be that I wish it was larger. Actually, no wait, I have an actual complaint. I hate how short the sticks are on these things. You've got a 3.5 ounce blob hanging off a teeny tiny stick. There's room in the bag for a bigger stick!
Ok, that rant over, I was going to say that at 210 calories, it's not big enough to fill me, but I also don't want to open a second one and get full half way through. Again, this isn't a real complaint, it's just that personally I would love it to be like two bites bigger.
Nice job, FatBoy! I love texture, I love mint, I love mint and chocolate, and I love a good self contained treat. I look forward to eating another one tomorrow.... or maybe in 20 minutes.
On Second Scoop: Just as tasty on the second try. They did a nice job with these. It's not fake or weird or overly anything. My only advice is to eat it over the sink because things are gonna get a little messy.

I'm so excited you liked these, because I'm picking them up at the store this morning. Shoprite has them on sale too! I noticed all the Fatboy novelties have been getting rave reviews everywhere I look. I'm usually not a novelty person but their cashew ice cream sandwiches are phenomenal
ReplyDeleteAnother great review, thanks for al you do! If you want a larger ice cream sandwich, check out Fat Boy's regular ice cream sandwiches, which they use as the base for these pops. For example, their Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream sandwich is 86 grams, compared to only 67 grams in the pop. All of their ice cream sandwich flavors are delicious and much more satisfying, in my opinion. Plus, you avoid the short stick altogether! If you wanted a sandwich on a stick, you could just buy regular popsicle sticks and stick one in for a bigger instant pop!

DeleteIf you want the fun crumb coating, you could just dip the sides into crushed cookie crumbs as the ice cream sandwich gets good and melty around the sides - problem solved!
DeleteBecause of your review, I went out and purchased these treats. They are indeed delicious and you are absolutely correct about the stick. The treat is a weird boxy shape and kinda heavy and it makes the stick feel stubbier than usual. I also listened to you and put a plate underneath because the crumbs go everywhere!
