Ben & Jerry's Truffle Trifecta
A Walgreen's Exclusive Ice Cream

[New for 2013, Non-GMO in 2015] Can you believe that yet another location has gotten in on the "exclusive" Ben & Jerry's list? This pint puts Walgreens in the company of Target, 7-11, and Walmart. Exclusive flavors tend to be decent, and sometimes hard to find, but for me it's time to check this one off the list.

This is Ben & Jerry's Truffle Trifecta ice cream. It's chocolate ice cream with marshmallow, fudge, and caramel truffles. That's right, three kinds of "truffles". Sure, truffles tend to be cubes in most ice creams, but "cup trifecta" just isn't that much fun to say. (next year's exclusive flavor: cup quartet?)

You know what that dark rich brown color means folks? OH YEAH! Rich chocolate ice cream is in the pint! Woohoo! We've all realized there is both a rich chocolate and a mild chocolate versions of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and I am happy to report this is the rich variety. That just makes me all the more excited to start the truffle shuffle scoopin!

(Am I the only one thinking flux capacitor right now?)
The problem is, are these all the same, or all different?

WOOHOO!!! I am the master truffle hunter! Nailed It! I swear to you that these truffles were chosen completely at random. Man that is too funny. And now time for the taste test. The marshmallow one is my favorite. It's real sweet and gooey and just what you would hope for. The fudge probably comes in next and again it's surprisingly flavorful for a little cup. I'll pick caramel as my third favorite simply because it didn't come across as expected. It's not bad, it's just different from the last few caramel treats I've had this week. I'll try more of them in my second scoop.

Ok, one more shot of the pint. I know you only see four truffles, but the reality is that there are about a dozen waiting for me just below the surface. The toughest decision you're going to have with this one is deciding how you are going to eat it. Do you dig out the truffles? Or dig out the chocolate and leave the truffles for last? Or just go crazy? I'm so glad they went with a rich chocolate base because it makes this decision that much harder. Do I want to eat a little? Do I want to stuff my face? I'm going to get a big blast of chocolate either way. This is the kind of pint that is guaranteed fun for us chocolate lovers.

Verdict?  Fun, Rich
Buy Again?  Yup

  1. Ugh, I've been trying to choose Edy's Slow Churned over B&J this summer due to calorie content, but I might just have to make an exception for this one! It looks too good to skip!
