TCBY Supreme Cookies & Cream Frozen Yogurt

[By Nick, New for 2012] After a recommendation on my TCBY Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough review, I’ve been on the lookout for their Supreme Cookies & Cream flavor. After a long search, I finally found myself a pint behind a bunch of other TCBY flavors. The commenter said that this product was amazing and similar to an Oreo Blizzard from DQ. Seeing as I live nowhere near a DQ, I’ve never had one before. I guess I’ll just have to take their word for it and just use my childhood memories of a Oreo Mcflurry as a reference.

TCBY describes this one by bluntly stating that this pint includes “chocolate sandwich cookie pieces throughout rich low fat vanilla frozen yogurt.” Nothing too shocking for a cookies and cream flavor but what exactly makes it supreme? This thing better have tons of cookies in it to live up to its name. That or the chunks need to be gigantic. I guess we’ll just have to find out then.

Removing the lid, I’ll say it looks quite supreme. It’s the perfect shade of grey and the base has specks of cookies everywhere. Taking a bite, I agree that this flavor is indeed amazing. It has all the elements of a perfect cookies and cream. The vanilla flavor is sweet like in the cookie dough pint but is kept in check by the ample amount of chocolate wafer cookies.

While not Oreos, these cookies are soft and chewy with a bit of bitterness to round out the flavor profile. While I wouldn't go so far as to say this is supreme with Ben & Jerry’s Milk & Cookies still in the freezer isle, I will say it is the supreme frozen yogurt cookies and cream. Also, at only 130 calories per serving, you could eat the whole pint for fewer calories than 2 serving of the Ben & Jerry’s version. I’m not saying that I ate the whole pint in one sitting. Then again, I’m not saying that I didn't either...

Verdict?  A better for you C&C that actually tastes really good.

  1. Thank you for finally trying this after my recommendation! I am extremely glad that you enjoyed it and gave it a "supreme" review because I think it is incredibly delicious, too!

  2. Stride, thanks for the recommendation. The flavor definitely didn't disappoint and is easily up there as one of my favorite cookies & cream flavors. Did you ever end up trying Milk & Cookies?

  3. This review is on point. I also love this flavor.

  4. Nick, I have not yet tried Ben and Jerry's Milk and Cookies. When I want a "Cookies and Cream" fix, this is my go-to flavor since I can eat the whole pint with fewer calories and fat than multiple servings of B&J's.

You don't have to admit it, but we all know that you ate the whole pint one sitting, too!

  5. Half-Baked is one of my top favorite Ben and Jerry's flavors. It's a combination of their Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream and their Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream, and yet I have never tried either the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough or the Chocolate Fudge Brownie because I figured that with Half-baked I get both of those flavors. Have you ever written a review for their Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream to compare it to their Milk and Cookies? I'd be interested in reading that review because it puzzles me how a flavor like Cookie Dough, which sounds boring compared to their other flavors especially the Milk and Cookies flavor which has two types of cookies, continues to be a popular flavor since almost every store that carries Ben and Jerry's ice cream carries their Cookie Dough flavor.

  6. I'm not sure if you mean me or Nick, but in my opinion Cookie Dough is still popular because when done right, it's kind of guaranteed epic. Maybe it's the sweetest, maybe it's memories of eating fresh cookie dough, but whatever it is, it's like vanilla or chocolate, it's it's own wonderful thing.

  7. Stride, I believe cookie dough is popular because its just one of those classic flavors. A lot of people don't like change which is why you tend to see the same flavors each year being the most popular. Also as for Ben & Jerry's, I believe cookie dough was one of their first flavors. Like cherry garcia< it has it's original fans that feel like it is the greatest out there. Lastly, their cookie dough pieces are beyond epic so I can easily see why people love that flavors. I could write a lot more about why stores would stock it over other flavors from a business perspective but I doubt you'd want to read all of that.

  8. Makes sense, Nick. Wasn't Ben and Jerry's the first company to ever produce cookie dough ice cream? Someday I'll try it. Hopefully, it has just cookie dough and no chunks of chocolate chips (I dislike hard chocolate.)

  9. Stride, they do claim that they were the first to create the flavor. The flavor does indeed have chocolate chunks in it though. I say it's still worth a try. If anything you could always have one of the mini cups but those don't do the cookie dough pieces justice.

  10. I refuse to buy a single serving cup of Ben and Jerry's unless it has no chunks mixed in because tiny mix-ins doesn't do Ben and Jerry's justice, just as you said it. I couldn't have said it better myself! :)
