Blue Bunny I Do, I Do Wedding Cake
Ice Cream Review

[New for 2011] For those of you who have been here since the very beginning, you may remember that I use to talk about "my trusted adviser". Before he got his work IM turned off, we were having quite the interesting daily conversations, often covering ice cream. He and his future bride popped up again later as "my roving reporters". Well, I'm happy to say they got married over the summer, woohoo!

This was their (tasty) cake. As many couples do, each layer was a different flavor. So we got a layer of cookies & cream, a Dubba pleasing carrot cake, and then if there was any doubt left in your mind about the coolness of the cake, it was rocking a layer of key lime pie! I love when people spice things up, I really do, but I wonder if any guests were missing the old wedding classic of a white cake with a raspberry swirl?

Blue Bunny to the rescue! (Literally, they sent this as a sample) This is "I Do, I Do Wedding Cake" and it's sweet butter cream frosting flavored ice cream with white cake pieces and ribbons of raspberry sauce.

Oh man, do you see all those cake pieces? I was so giddy that I (inadvertently) scooped them all into my wife's bowl, not realizing they weren't as plentiful further down. Don't get me wrong, there are still some, and they are tasty and fresh just like in the other Duff Goldman flavors, you just have to be careful how you divy them up.

You see this mighty swirl before you? Well, it goes with the massive cake flavor that struck me from the very first bite. This one is not for the timid. This is a bold flavor and it will demand your attention whether you want to give it or not. This one is strong, this one is sweet, and for some strange reason, I keep thinking I taste cream cheese.

I know, I know, I'm not the greatest judge of flavors, but that's how this one hits me. Yes, I get the undeniable cake vibe, it's smacking me across the face yelling "pay attention", but the way it lingers reminds me of many other attempted cheesecake flavored ice creams. Hmmm, maybe that's why my wife likes this one so much!

If you like classic wedding cake (and ice cream), you should like this one. This is one of those flavors where you go "hey, you gotta try this one, it's bold!". If you don't like overly sweet or potent ice creams, this ain't for you. Thanks to Blue Bunny for the sample!

Verdict?  different and potent
Buy Again?  possible (for my wife though)

I thought this stuff was pretty good. I like the strawberry shortcake variety more though. Maybe just personal preference.

Did blue bunny send u a free sample of strawberries are forever shortcake too. I can't find these 2 flavors any where close to me in ct. Just red velvet cake & triple chocolate cake.

@CAH: mmmmm, strawberry (I concur)

@Anon: They did send the strawberries are forever, but I'm 90% sure I've seen it floating around here (at bigger walmarts)

I love this one! And I agree, I definitely taste cheesecake/cream cheese. If I didn't see the container I would assume it was a raspberry cheesecake ice cream. I would have liked more raspberry swirl, but still a great flavor!

Just tried this tonight and it def reminds me of wedding cake. However nothing can be too sweet for me so I disagree with you thinking it was sweet. I did enjoy the swirl, it reminded me of a delicious jam, and there were a TON of cake bits everywhere. But like you Dubs I think Triple Chocolate cake and red velvet are tastier!
