Dubba's Rice Krispy Treat Ice Cream

It's the weekend, time to make some ice cream. For some reason (maybe it was the marshmallow swirl in the last review), I got an idea, rice krispy treats are made with marshmallow, I wonder if I could I make a rice krispy treat ice cream.

Dubba's Rice Krispy Treat Ice Cream
1.5 Cups of whole milk
1 cup of half & half
1/2 cup of confectionary sugar
(still out of regular sugar)
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 big globs of marshmallow fluff
1(?) cup of frosted rice krispies

Didn't add the rice krispies until almost the end, so they did manage to stay respectably crunchy. They are also the frosted kind, so they tend to last a little bit longer anyway. I also tried to add in an additional glob of marshmallow fluff along the way ...technically it did mix in eventually. Overall, it came out pretty good. Pretty much tastes like a vanilla frosty with rice krispies mixed it. the marshmallow flavor didn't really come through ...hmmm, doing research:

From the marshmallow fluff website: How do you make ice cream topping?
"Place a small quantity of Fluff in a bowl, then slowly add warm water while mixing with a fork. Or, place 4 heaping tablespoons of Fluff and 3 tablespoons of water in a microwave-safe container, then microwave on high for 15 seconds. Remove and stir."

Ahhhh! So that's how you prepare marshmallow fluff. Ok, so, I still think the flavor of marshmallow is the way to go. I also still haven't mastered getting to the right ice cream texture, but, that's what practice is for (gonna take percentage of milk down a bit further next time)

  1. Did you find your rice krispies to be soggy? Mine were in the recipe I developed...

  2. I think they were ok at first, but after I froze the ice cream overnight, I think they got squishier.

maybe if we made rice krispy treats with frosted krispies, the double sugar layer would protect them better? or maybe prefreeze the krispies??
