Remember last year when I asked "Is the Ice Cream Factory good?", well, I finally have an answer for you after finding this 3/4 pint buried in my basement freezer. When I went to grab one of the new Ben & Jerry's sundae pints from that freezer, I suddenly got the urge for...

Ice Cream Factory Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream
buttery cream cheese ice cream with gooey butter cake caramel & butterscotch

I do love the clear top! It makes me miss all the clear pints that used to be on shelves (I miss you Dolcezza! and Gelato Fiasco! and everyone else that used to do this!)

It scoops very easily (its been tempering for a few minutes). Plenty of flavor on that first scoop, but I worry that all the flavor floated to the top.

Oh man, the cake chunks are delicious and soft!
It sounds like ice crystals breaking when I scoop it, and that's kind of disturbing, but I don't notice an icy texture in the ice cream itself at least.
Disclaimer: I am a fan of butterscotch, so I'm enjoying how prevalent it's flavor is.
The soft texture is very nonstandard, but man has it packed a ton of flavor so far. This is the best sugar rush I've had in weeks.
Ok, that bite was a most icy so far. I think that there are ice crystals on the edges, so when I go to scoop, the ice cream is moving around and those ice crystals are scraping the walls of the container.
Did I mention this has a ton of flavor? It's nice to see butterscotch get some freezer aisle love like this. It goes real well with the soft cake chunks.
It's supposed to be buttery cream cheese ice cream but i'm not really getting any cheesy notes, at this nothing significant. It's probably there just adding a little bit to the overall flavor profile instead.
I'm gonna put this away since the tiny 12oz container is now half empty. Maybe more than half empty....
The world needs more cakey butterscotch ice cream, so thank you for that.
On Second Scoop: I'm not sure why I wasn't confident about this yesterday, but the ice crystals are definitely coming from the butterscotch swirl. With that mystery solved, I have to tell you that I am really enjoying the amount of flavor coming from this little container of ice cream. I'm totally trying more of their flavors to see if they pack the same punch.
Verdict? so flavorful
Buy Again? Yes!
Buy Again? Yes!
Company Note: Ice Cream Factory was founded in 2019 in Lebanon, Missouri. In October 2025, it was announced that PNC Brands Group has acquired a majority interest in the company. The plans are to expand production capabilities to make more ICF ice cream as well as making ice cream for others.
Sneakiness note: nutrition panel shows 3 servings per container, but that's using the old 1/2 cup serving size method, not the new 2/3 cup serving size. The reality is that you'll probably eat half now and half later (or all of it now once you taste how flavorful it is)
Allergy note: produced in a facility with other allergens
