Almost 8 years ago, my in-laws surprised me with an ice cream pie from New City Microcreamery (review here). The plan was to visit one of their scoop shops, but we never did. At some point, their faux pints started showing up in stores, and still I did not try them (we'll blame location). Well, after all this time, I finally decided to try "the best in the world". That's a pretty bold statement...

New City Microcreamery Tres Leche Ice Cream
cream cheese ice cream soaked vanilla cookies with dolce de leche swirl

Bubbles are probably from the nitrogen process right? Coloring is good and I can see a couple of cookie chunks showing.
Ok, good first bite. plenty of flavor but in a good way. Not getting bowled over by cheese flavor and the dulce de leche is rounding things out nicely.

The ice cream has tons of texture (which I like ofcourse). I should try a cookie.... ok, I'm digging those too. Stealing the bigger cookie chunk...
This will sound surprising, but this reminds me of one of the cold case flavors. There was one that had a ton of texture and flavor, and that's what we have here. I should have tried this ice cream sooner!
Seriously, this ice cream right is totally my kind of ice cream. It's got chew, but not chewy chew, like cake chew and the dulce de leche has kind of gone everywhere, which is fine by me. Technically there is a small spot that appears to be plain white ice cream, but the rest has a fun golden color.
Ok, digging in to the white spot, the texture is a bit more dense for sure. It's good, but it's when all three components come together that the texture is perfect to someone like me.
This is one of those great pints where you have to decide something. Do you either scoop slow and small to make sure you enjoy the pint for what it is, or do you inhale the whole thing in one sitting because it's just that good.
Nice Job New City! Color me impressed!
On Second Scoop: It's just as good on the second day, though definitely give it a moment to temper (not forever, just a moment). I just really love how it comes together with a complex flavor that's not too bold or too cheezy. To put it's excellence in perspective. I had to make a choice. Do I keep this one all too myself, or do I share the deliciousness? In the end, I did share, but also, I will get more!
Final note: if you are still trying to put this one in to perspective, I realized that it reminds me of Jeni's Gooey Butter Cake... and yes, part of me wants them to fight side by side, but I have a feeling Jeni's would win (but not by a ton).
Verdict? excellent
Buy Again? Yes!
