We did it, we finally made it to Gelato Fiasco after all these years! It's been six years since my last GF review, and to make up for that, we visited GF Tuesday night on our way up through Maine, and then Wednesday night on our way back home. Let's see if this stuff is even better in person (but come on, you know it will be).

Gelato Fiasco
(Flagship Store in Brunswick)
First, big thanks to our servers for being super friendly and super patient with us. They answered all our questions and let us try several flavors. Also, they will totally jam several gelato flavors into your dish. The cup sizes may look similar, but the large will definitely fill you to the brim. We each did three flavors on Tuesday, but then on Wednesday, I went with 2 flavors, my wife went with 3, and my daughter went with 4. Much fun was had picking and choosing (though choosing was certainly hard).

This was my Tuesday night large cup of gelato (aka dinner). On the left is their limited cRUMBLE flavor which celebrates West Side Story playing at the Maine State Music Theatre. It's dulce de leche gelato with New York cheesecake crumbles and we all thought it was delicious. I also mixed in toasted marshmallow s'mores (better than the pint I reviewed in 2014) and... cookie therapy? I usually get one, occasionally 2 flavors in my cup, but with 3 flavors that didn't photograph super great inside, well, we'll have to assume that's what #3 is.
I also stole a few bites of S'moreo from my wife after she mentioned it was pretty strongly flavored, and she was right. It definitely tastes like graham crackers, but I didn't expect it to be that intense.
Part of me was tempted not to finish my last few bites, but when you are 3 hours from home eating delicious fresh gelato, you don't waste the last few bites.
The next day rolled around and to be fair to everyone, I would have been happy to try something else for dinner Wednesday night (we had already had a nice lunch), but my daughter encouraged us to stop at GF again, and who am I to say no to more delicious gelato.

This was my Wednesday night medium. It's just a nice mix of Maine Wild Blueberry Crisp (the first GF pint I ever reviewed circa 2013) and Double Caramel Cookies & Cream (it was way better than the pint I reviewed in 2018). Our server said this would be a good combo and he was right. They are both delicious flavors and I'm glad the photographed well to help stress how tasty it was.

It was good to see GF pints again. If I had a bunch of ice with me and my cooler, I would have brought some home.
Man I wish I lived closer to Brunswick.... oh, there was a DQ right down the road, but it wasn't very busy. I wonder why? HA!
Portland note: If you don't know the area, trying to get to the Portland store is a giant pain in the bottom when it comes to parking. If you can make it to Brunswick, go there instead. There's plenty of street parking and then you can go for a quick walk around town after you've enjoyed your delicious gelato.
Verdict? even better in person
Buy Again? 100% yes
Buy Again? 100% yes
Disclaimer: For the purpose of transparency, GF had no idea I was in the store, I did not mention it was me, and I paid for our gelato like everyone else was. I will apologize for not understanding the tipping mechanics on the first night, because otherwise I would have left a tip both nights.
