Turkey Hill Strawberry Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches

[New for 2022] As always, I try to keep at least one kind of ice cream cookie sandwich in the basement freezer, especially during the summer mows when I need a mid-mowing snack. You might even remember that I tried two of these last year and wound up preferring the vanilla version over the chocolate version. Well, let's see where this strawberry version ranks.

Yay! No plain white wrapper!

pausing for a moment: these ice cream sandwiches now carry a "made on shared equipment" warning. I thought it was because there is was a peanut butter flavor, but then I re-read the warning and it's actually the cookies that were made on shared equipment.

To put it simply, these feel uninspired. Neither the cookies nor the ice cream are talking to me right now. Why does this taste so meh?

On Second Scoop: I just don't like these. I think these could be great with a black raspberry filling, but there's just something about this combo that is uninspiring too me. It's like they want to be creative and classic and I think they should have just went with classic.

On Third Scoop: Because of the "extreme drought" this summer, I haven't really been mowing, which means I haven't really needed my regular mid-mowing snack. Well, we have finally got some rain and the grass has started to recover, meaning I finally had this sandwich for it's intended purpose yesterday. That's right, I had one as my outdoor snack and I finally enjoyed these! For whatever reason, the cookie finally came alive for me. It almost reminds me of a chocolate sugar cookie more than a traditional super-chocolately cookie. Thank goodness that it finally clicked for me. I'm not saying I will rush back out to buy another box, but at least I was in the right moment to try these.

Verdict?  meh > not bad!
Buy Again?  back to vanilla (and waiting for black raspberry!)

  1. Zero interest in these after trying the supposed "peanut butter" flavor. That said, I love the idea of a sandwich as a mowing treat. I would actually look forward to mowing!

  2. Would it make you feel better to know that they've discontinued the peanut butter flavor?

    1. I noticed that in your review and somehwat. I'm glad a bad product is gone so others aren't unhappy with their purchase.

For me, it was the first and probably last product of theirs I'll try.

If it was "just me" and the product was loved by others, it would mean I'm just picky about my peanut butter (I am) or that I received a bad batch. As it's been discontinued, it seems safe to assume other didn't enjoy it as well.

It's a flavor that never should have made it onto shelves in that form, so I don't trust the brand enough to pay anywhere near full price in the future.
